Superfunkycalifragisexy You can't tell me he wasn't smokin' something when he recorded that.
Don't get me wrong, the song's funky but you can even hear his words slurring in the last few seconds. Some people say he's never touched drugs, do you guys think he did for the Black Album?

it's a kind of homage to george clinton and funkadelic/parliament imo
the vocal slurs are intentional, i'm sure. love that song!! and i don't think he did drugs during the recording of the black album. people always make out like it's some dark project he had going on all the time when in fact it's compiled out of tracks from various sources and probably doesn't have more than 1 or 2 tracks that were recorded with the eventual released format in mind. and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

lol, yes. i don't consider the black album to be more dark or depressing than a lot of his other stuff. some of the songs were recorded for/played at sheila e's birthdayparty haha. yeah, really dark and evil. the subjectmatter might be slightly more sexual than some of his previous albums but nothing really more sexual than dirty mind or 1999 anyway. the only song you could consider "dark" is bob george and even that has a comical overtone (at least to me, with the comical copper vocals et all). and true love lives on lollipops and crisps
