I´m talking about the version he did on MTV Unplugged, with his mom sitting in the audience. Great concert ! Maybe your version is the same ? I don´t know.....

sad Oh, I don't have cable...is the concert available on DVD? I doubt it's the same version--I just played mine and can hear piano and drums, at least.

Here's George's MTV performance http://youtube.com/watch?v=Dfd7a1hEJf0

I'd never paid that much attention to it, but his voice is soooo absolutely beautiful and pure. Love me some GM too. His version gives you more of that emotional longing and loss while Prince's version says to me "I'll do anything to make you love me, please baby baby please!!! Give me one more chance to put it on you and turn you out like I KNOW I can." nod lol

BTW, thumbs up! to George Michael I heard he turned Wembley Stadium out recently. He's REALLY talented.

Oooh, thanks for posting that link. I love George Michael. love After watching that I'm pretty sure that is a different version from the one on Ladies & Gentlemen: The Best of GM....the Best of version has different lyrics at the end.

Oh, and just for good measure I re-listend to Prince's version.... confused disbelief It's like he didn't even understand what the song is about AND overproduced the shit out of it. Sorry P. but George's version mops the floor with yours...(and damn is Emancipation a pile of doody)

fishslap

the vocals should not be "beautiful". they should be heartbroken, reflective and in pain.

Prince's version is ok until he adds his sex verse, that totally ruined it! That song is supposed to be a heartfelt, sad song. It's not about bangin' boots.

Bonnie's version still remains THE best.

nod

i'm a big fan of Bonnie's original.

Prince's version is just terrible. IMO

say what you will about Prince's version, it is still my favorite, I LOVE it even. As long as we are talking cover songs, I also love his version of "One of Us"

Ok, you can hit me on the head with a brick now. boxed
