I won't tell you whether I own this piece of footage or not (), but I can tell you that I saw something truly rare. Well OK, among you rabid hardcore fans it's probably old news to you, but it's new to me. It's basically a warm-up show at First Avenue prior to the Parade Tour back in March 1986. Prince and his greatest band ever, The Revolution seemed very loose and relaxed and tight at the same time. This is also rare because you don't see this hilarious side of Prince this often. And he was a riot. He's like, "what's that thing they say at the rock concert?" and then Wendy's like "FREEBIRD!!!". And then Prince says "FREEBIRD!!! YEAH, Y'ALL WANT SOME SKYNRD?!!"

Man, the onstage banter in between is hysterical, but the music is funky as usual. I wouldn't expect it any other way with Prince and his Revolution though. But I had no idea that there was footage of this show. But now I do.

Yeah, nice concert. I like that saxophone version of Purple Rain. I have it on vinyl.

wow- i've never seen clips on Prince banter in concerts. humph. prolly cause i don't buy bootleggers (sp?).

Right now, I'm watching a video of Prince and Chaka Khan doing "Sweet Thing" - I had never seen this before. Wow, does it kill.

But few performances match "Motherless Child" from the Septimo show. That was Prince on a whole 'nother level...
