Save 'Planet Earth'

Planet Earth will die commercially because of the cover. Prince in a PVC corset over his shirt will not encourage the masses to buy. The New Pwer Soul and Rave covers also put people off. Prince looks so cool, yet uses some awful cover shots.

Let's make a better cover. Here's mine:

Have fun making alternate covers...give us some good ones to look at. Now having said that, I LOVE P in the corset on PE. It's sexy and just the slightest bit kinky. I've really missed the "edge" from P the last several years. The new cover makes me happy.

You're probably right, but who cares. It's their loss.

to be honest when artists i don't really know that well release an album
that i'm mildly interested in or happen to see in the store i don't give
a fck about the cover. i tend to listen to the music and if i like what
i hear i'll buy it.

if anything, the cover draws some attention away from the other cd's it
will be lined up with.

plus, the final cover will look way cooler than the original pic. there
will be more going on in the pic once they've photoshopped it and added
a few bits and pieces.

I think the cover is kinda cool.
It is not known why FuNkeNsteiN capitalizes his name as he does, though some speculate sunlight deficiency caused by the most pimpified white guy afro in Nordic history.

Fuck the masses. They like shit hop so that shows they have bad taste and wouldn't like Prince anyway. As long as Prince's fans buy it (and he has a large fanbase), he doesn't need any new fans because they would be wanting him to weaken his music.

I've already bought one disappointing sellout album this year from another one of my favorite artists who tried to appeal to the masses. I don't need another one like it from Prince.

For a cover that wants to be so forward, it's very safe and ordinary, even. The only thing that looks good in it is Prince. The Girdle looks more out of place, than risque. It just isn't executed right. If he were growing out of the earth instead of standing behind a globe, it might be more interesting. There's so many ways to make that concept work really well. This present design, isn't one.

Who?

The King of Punk Funk himself, Mr. Rick James. However, judging by his latest album, the King gave up his title, put all his funk to bed, and went the same route as my third favorite artist, The Barkays.

Looks like in the end, Prince was the only one that continued funk. Even though Prince himself has had particular sellout tracks (such as "Incense and Candles") he still continued mostly funk and rock on his albums.

As for current artists, Jamiroquai is pretty cool, and from what I've heard from other orgers, Chromeo is pretty good (I'm still looking for their album). A few weeks ago, I was channel surfing and saw a video that contained a very funky song by the Red Hot Chili Peppers so I'm going to have to check their latest album out as well. It's rediculous but funk these days has become as rare as a teenage virgin.

lol

Well, these days I hear a lot of so called funk imitations in music.
They put in a funky bass line and call it inspired by funk music wink
(Joss Stone and other R&B stuff)
Now,I know we disagree on the fact that I still like some of today's R&B
but I DO agree that a lot of those songs are here 4 our pleasure today
but won't stick around 4 ages.
