From wikipedia: An album or record album is a collection of related audio or music tracks distributed to the public. The most common way is through commercial distribution, although smaller artists will often distribute directly to the public by selling their albums at live concerts or on their websites. The tracks on an album may be related by subject, mood or sound, and may even be designed to express a unified message or tell a story (as in the case of a concept album), or the tracks may simply represent a convenient grouping of recordings made at one time or place, or recordings whose commercial rights are controlled by a single record label. A group of audio tracks is considered to be an album if it has a generally consistent track list (often with minor differences or bonus tracks in different territories, or if the album is "reissued" at different times). An album may be released in a single format, such as on compact disc, or in multiple media formats, ranging from physical ones such as CDs, DVD audio, cassettes and vinyl records, to digital ones such as MP3 and AAC files or streaming audio. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Album wikipedia is not a reliable source....anybody can post there ...doesnt make it true Well, an album is a "collection" of songs. That's why I still refer to them as albums. The formats are vinyl, cassette, cd, mp3, etc. Granted we are used to calling the vinyl an "alubm", but I use it as a general term. al·bum/ˈælbəm/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[al-buhm] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation –noun 1. a bound or loose-leaf book consisting of blank pages, pockets, envelopes, etc., for storing or displaying photographs, stamps, or the like, or for collecting autographs. 2. a phonograph record or set of records containing several musical selections, a complete play, opera, etc.: Her album of folk songs will be out next month. 3. the package or container for such a record or records: The album has a pocket for each record. 4. a printed book containing an anthology of writings, reproductions of photographs or artwork, musical compositions, etc. [Edited 6/8/07 14:41pm]

It's not a girdle, it's a corset! It is indeed a corset. Corset: A fitted garment usually with boning designed to cinch the waist and lift the breasts. Girdle: A girdle is a piece of women's underwear that replaced the corset in popularity and usage. Constructed of elasticized fabric and usually fastened with hook and eye closures. Given the definitions, it doesn't seem to be a girdle- though I did see some pictures that looked similar to what Prince is wearing. Its a modified corset- and it doesn't seem to be doing anything to his figure, prolly cause its not worn right and worn loosely for the picture. He's also wearing it the wrong way- because it is supposed to be an undergarment (at least it used to- these days ). Apparently, they make corsets for men (both heterosexual men and cross-dressing men- yes, there's a difference in the material used) Front of Male Corset: Back of Male Corset: Apparently, they've been worn by men for centuries, over clothing and under clothing. A few little birds had already spotted this. btw, I'm so glad that so far, hardly any tracks from this album have been performed and/or leaked. One of the dampeners of 3121 was that by the time the album was released, a large number of the songs had already been heard on an official basis. This time around, only 'Guitar' has been heard in its studio incarnation. Let's hope it stays that way.

I haven't seen a larger version yet.
But I think it will pop up soon... with all the announcements from Play and Amazon I liked the first one, but this is cool too... now suddenly I think about what someone said: the album cover will be something special (like Diamonds & Pearls etc) I though, wouldn't it be cool if the world was actually turning But I don't see how they would do that... oh well... If it is one of those, then the world turning, as well as the planets orbiting, is possible. The girdle might even do something, and the title may appear. Not just "Planet Earth", but the complete title: "Planet Earth (One of Those Nine Things that Revolve Around Me)".But I think it will pop up soon... with all the announcements from Play.co.uk and Amazone I liked the first one, but this is cool too... now suddenly I think about what someone said: the album cover will be something special (like Diamonds & Pearls etc) I though, wouldn't it be cool if the world was actually turning But I don't see how they would do that... oh well... Afer now finally hearing the new version of Guitar I'm getting really excited about the new album.
I liked the original, kinda nice little pop ditty. But the new version is great, maybe not a classic but very solid, the song went from a 6/10 to an 8/10 for me. The new version of Guitar makes me think that the New album could be closer in sound to Gold than any other album, which would be great.

The original is P doing the one man band thing whereas the Planet Earth version IS a band. With Guitar, Watchtower/Best of you, and The Chain live stuff, maybe this will be a more rock oriented effort. I'd like that. But really, I just want it to be good. Fantasy is reality in the world today. But I'll keep hangin in there, that is the only way.

...I've just listened 2 a live recording of "Shadows and Chains" and it sounds good, somewhere between "the cross" and "papa"... Will it be included in the forthcoming "Planet Earth" ? I agree with U and share the same hope. Guitar and this one seem to anounce a rock-vibe album with a cool real sound... Does anyone know ? ...yeah we just have 2 be patient... Did anyone hear that song ? Peace [edit] I guess I come late but did U see that ? [Edited 6/9/07 8:53am]

a bunch of hype when first released will be number 1 album its first week out no radio friendly hits so will die a quick death prince.org patrons will fight for months on what songs are good or suck on the CD(not album ) At 1st I didn't like 3121 but when it had staying power and was being nominated for all these awards I listen again and it turned out to be a gem. I feel Prince is still not completely out of the doghouse yet for leaving Warner Bros. and tha's why he has little radio & video play.

Maybe I'm getting old but... I find Prince's recent string of albums rather forgettable. There was a time when I'd know every Prince album inside and out, but I really couldn't tell you the exact track listing of 3121 or Musicology. They've kinda mixed together in my head, and although they both have songs I like, there's about a half-album of strong material between them.
I just hope Planet Earth is... interesting again. Y'know? The Rainbow Children may have been madder than a march hare but at least it was interesting. I do hope Planet Earth just has some substance - I'm tired of watching Prince chasing trends with his music. And please, no mentions of the "rims" on his "ride"...

I seriously hope that Planet Earth isn't yet another 12 song crowd-pleaser. He's done that twice in a row now, to varying effect. He surely still isn't that desperate to create the perfect, multi-million selling opus? I certainly hope not. I mean, of course I'll enjoy it cos it's a Prince album, but I'd still prefer an album with many songs that do nothing for me on first listen, but after a few listens, really get under my skin and stay there for some time. Not instant fixes that last for a while, but get boring very quickly. Here's to Planet Earth being something jaw-dropping and something that goes against the grain.
