i think somewhere here one earth has kinda "parade-ish" vibe goin on with the horns. not the cheese vegas horns hes loved to use since 96 lol

Wow, just when you lose hope. I think Somewhere Here on Earth is absolutely astonishing, the vocal, the lyric's sentiment, the arrangement, the production, and a Olympus-circling, yearning, soul-bruised vocal - one of his greatest. I'm not prone to hyperbole and generally bleed cynicism and bile, but by Christ you must have a aluminum ear if you don't think this is one of Prince's greatest achievements. It laughs from the VIP area at Parade's ballads. And I'm the guy who wants to be buried with my vinyl Parade in a yellow suit. Well done, wee man. You've found your voice again and I'm reminded why I'm here and on this trip for life.

Finally got the last 4 tracks of the album, my review will come shortly. Please do not ask me on the boards where I got the tracks or how to get them. I support Prince 100%! "Don't you think one of the charms of marriage is that it makes deception a necessity for both parties?"

Planet Earth - "Imagine holding planet earth in the palm of your hand." Bombastic, freaky rocker with a killer guitar solo that just builds and builds. Not really feeling the break in the middle, a great song nonetheless. (A)
Guitar - "I love you baby but not like I love my guitar." Polished, guitar heavy version of the previous demo. It's simple and fun, great guitar licks. (A-) Somewhere Here on Earth - "Seen that face a thousand times only in my dreams." A perfect 1950's era jazzy ballad with perfect vocals. Brilliant. (A) The One You Wanna See - "If you wanna get creamy i'm the one you wanna see." Quirky, fun, country pop song. I dig it a lot. (A-) Future Baby Mama - "None of them had what it takes to be a future baby mama." R&b ballad with classic Linn Drum and great vocals, although a little too much like current r&b ballads for me. Better than "Call My Name" though. Still too much "neo-soul". (B-) Mr. Goodnight "I have a mind full of good intentions and a mouth full of rasinets." Hmmm, this groove is just kind of there. I don't know why Prince makes music like this, but it's kind of groovy. Way beneath him, though. (C+) All the Midnights in the World - "Together with love for one another we shall make them know." Weird song, like a song around a campfire, something from the 60's. Strange rock/piano/hippie song. I don't even know what he's singing about but it's catchy. Nice stuff! Very beautiful and bizarre. (A) Chelsea Rodgers - "A model used to be a role model...i don't know!" Disco, starts funky. Sounds like Mavis Staples and Shelby on this track, although both voices may be Shelby. Sounds like a good Mavis impression to me. Damn. Funky song from the 70's. Damn, a lot of horns on this song. Pretty cool song, but it just goes and goes. (A-) Lion of Judah - "a million mistakes and then some." Starts like Purple Rain. Sounds weird so far, a rock song with no hook. The song is about the press and striking his enemies down. Good guitar solo at the end, but this is more like Christian rock and not that catchy. Maybe Prince is saying Wendy and Lisa are his true friends and they will stand by him, since they sing backup on the song. Decent message but not a catchy song at all. (B-) Resolution - "the main problem with war is that nobody ever wins." 60's/70's rock and pop. "come on everybody, all over the world, tell me how many people really want resolution?" Awesome song. (A). [Edited 7/7/07 11:41am] "Don't you think one of the charms of marriage is that it makes deception a necessity for both parties?"

You can't be serious. You chastise people on Housequake for reviewing without sharing, and now you're doing the same? The hypocrisy is thick in here.

Hey, I did not want to get that other Prince website in trouble, but now since they banned a bunch of accounts, I can tell the truth. If Prince wants to blame any fan site, it should be that one. That's all I'm saying. "Don't you think one of the charms of marriage is that it makes deception a necessity for both parties?"

This is easily his most accessible album in like 10 yrs. I'm still on the first rotation and already it blows musicology and 3121 out of the frakkin water.
It just has a very fresh, carefree, frisky feel to it. The Most Important Thing In Life Is Sincerity....Once You Can Fake That, You Can Fake Anything.

It just has a very fresh, carefree, frisky feel to it. I agree!! As I told you privately, I think this is a brilliant piece of work!! I mean, I too think it's leaps and bounds better then "3121", and I REALLY dig that CD!! Maybe it's just me, but I definetely get a "BEATLES" type of vibe when listening to some of these tracks. I'm VERY impressed to say the least!! Easily his best in a long...LONG time!!

I'm impressed by the PE as well. Very very solid work here. Apart from Mr Goodnight. It is all very very good. Very 70's. There is something unique in PE.
And Chelsea Rodgers ! Oh my God ! So good, so good. ThirdStrike said: lazycrockett said: This is easily his most accessible album in like 10 yrs. I'm still on the first rotation and already it blows musicology and 3121 out of the frakkin water.
