Hi i am from italy and do u know why Diamonds & Pearls was so big in Europe and especially in Uk??? i mean the following album Symbol sold very little compared to Diamonds & Pearls. Do u remember all the buzz when the album was released in UK? everybody was talking aboute that? (tv, news, mtv ecc). in Uk it reached 3 platinium 900.000 copies. wow! D&P sold more than Purple Rian in UK!

Good promotion, hit tour, hit singles with videos, the whole 'return to form', bit like now maybe?

It was just the right sort of music for the right time. It was promoted well and it was good because it was doing well without having a movie behind it. The music sold itself (well, and some great videos).

Oh, and I don't think the album did go to number one in the UK. Simply Shite's 'Stars' album kept D&P off the number one spot.
