Ok, Honesty time folks, The other day i was workin in my back house and i put my prince song list on shuffle on the PC..I was working and singing away when i realised there were songs i wasnt to familiar with and some i had not heard at all.

So who here can honestly say they know and can sing EVERY prince song..If not what percentage would you know well.

of the released stuff: yes. every song released on cd or single or compilation.
the vocals, the backingvocals, the bass, the guitar, the drums etc etc. i know
all his released work inside out.

not because i know anything about music, lol, but just from listening to those
songs for 20 years now.

of the bootleg tracks: i'd say about 75% completely, the rest mid to good nod
there are some songs by satellite acts that i don't know by heart though.

I think I have a pretty good grip on most stuff. I've at least heard them, if not know them- between my friend and me, we've built a nice collection of studio stuff. biggrin
I don't have as many performances, so I've missed versions of songs.

Ever once in a while tho, I'm like confuse when a song is mentioned: "How'd THAT one get past me?!"

"Love Hurts.
Your lies, they cut me.
Now your words don't mean a thing.
I don't give a damn if you ever loved me..."

Come lol, that's a great song despite the x rated lyrics. Letitgo is good too. wink

To answer the original post, I'd say I know roughyl 40-50% of his work. I've heard various tracks from 22 albums and quite a few b sides.

I know every official release song, I only own 2 bootlegs, so I only know those 2. My mind is not as young as it use to be, so sometimes I'll be singing a song "automatically" when it comes on...but it takes me a few to realize what song I am singing, crazy!

the only ones that I'd say I don't know pretty well are the pre-For You demoes and what-not.

i think one of the great things abt being a Prince fan is that no matter how much of his music uve heard- there's always gonna be some song u didn't know abt, some remix or bootleg version.

Of the official releases, I know pretty much everything. I'm shaky on some of the alternative mixes from the 90s, though -- and I don't have total familiarity with the studio boots.

And there's no way I could identify most of the material from live boots. I'm pretty good with most of the better-known stuff -- but I own relatively little of this.

Boris Fishpaw and Langebleu probably know every song ever written, sung, or hummed by Prince.

Those dudes are AMAZING.
