has anyone heard "a case of you"?

Prince does "a case of you" on a recent Joni MItchell tribute cd. I was wondering if it is a mint version of the live cut from The Avenue or a new studio version.

It's a studio version from around 2003/2004 that was also included on the One Nite Alone piano (studio) album available only through the NPGMC.

That version from the Avenue will always be the best.

One Nite Alone was originally distributed in 2002, so I guess it was actually recorded before 2003/2004.

The first 4 songs of One Nite Alone (including A Case of U, but excluding the atmospheric keyboard part at the very end) were made available for download as part of the last month of the NPGMC Yr1 in Jan 2002. So quite possibly it was recorded in 2001.

For some reason I have NEVER liked Prince's version. He does it too falsetto and you can barely hear what he's saying.

I downloaded it from itunes where Joni Mitchel's new covers CD is sold. It's a partial list, but Prince's song is on there. I only bought "A case of you". The rest I wasn't interested in purchasing. Haven't listened to it yet.

I like the way he performed it at First Ave 83 also. The way it is on One Nite Alone is alright, not all that good
Some people think I'm kinda cute
But that don't compute when it comes 2 Y-O-U.

The album was recorded during the mixing of The Rainbow Children.
