Your Crystal Ball 2 wish list?

We all know that he was considering releasing such a project. Pretend for a minute that it was coming out. Pretend for a minute that you had control over the tracklist. Pretend for a minute that there was no pre-selected list to choose from. If you could hand pick the tracks that would appear on such an album, what would they be?

For me, I'm going to pick only songs I know. Otherwise I would only want songs I've never heard before. But if I had my druthers, I would love to have these songs collected together in perfect sound quality.

1. Extralovable
2. Possessed
3. The Sex of It
4. Rebirth of the Flesh
5. Cookie Jar
6. God Is Alive
7. The Grand Progression
8. Love...Thy Will Be Done
9. Open Book
10. Empty Room
11. Moonbeam Levels
12. Me Touch Myself
13. Player
14. I Wonder
15. Desire
16. Allegiance
17. Lisa
*bonus track- Come alternate mix

since the Crystal Ball 3disc set was heavy on material from '93-'96, I tried to focus on my favorite outtakes from before that time period. Maybe after this, I'll post the songs that I'm most interested in that I've never heard.

You can include anything you want, whether it's circulating amongst collectors or not. Or you can separate your lists as I've done. Let's hear it! nod

If nothing else, include THE ORIGINAL VERSION OF CRYSTAL BALL. The produced version is horrible.

Everyone always makes up a tracklisting of what they want to be on CB2...I'm sure most of us have these songs already, right...Give me songs from this same time period that we have no clue about...Even if the quality was perfect on the stuff we already have, give me a complete cd of unheard music...Now that would be my dream setlist...Aloha~~

Believe it or not, I still do not own this CD duh . I never saw it for sale here in Toronto. In fact, I just ordered it today from the wrecka stow and it's going to cost me $80 Canadian plus taxes for a total of $92 or so. I'm sure it will be worth it.

Unfortunately, no one at the store could tell me if what I ordered was the original version. How would I know this? And, am I paying too much for it?

Your expertise is much appreciated here... Thanks!

Ronnie! You should have asked someone to "share" a copy with you. It would have saved you some bucks! The original price is somewhere between 30 & 45 depending on where you get it but I just found an excellent copy for $20 in the used section of Warehouse music.

You must have bought the original as I'm sure the wrecka stow wouldn't be selling bootlegs.

Stop wishing for things you will not get.
If you get things they are bount to be different to what you experienced when you first heard these recordings.

I mean; on Crystal Ball we got a heavily edited Dream Factory, the W&L&S contributions edited out, Sexual Suicide's vocals and some instrumentation was re-recorded and small parts out of some songs (like Moviestarand Crystal Ball) were cut.

Then alot of the things on there seemed fillers. Songs like Strays Of The World would have been better left unreleased. And frankly I am not waiting for remixes of songs I liked the first time round. Leave off them Darks, Lovesigns and Continentals unles they have something OVER the originals, none of them came close to me. Maybe he should release a remix album or sumthing.

Also, the booklet gave a little insight into Prince's recording habits, but I want MORE, MORE, MORE. The most fun to read were the notes to Cloreen Baconskin, becuz it gave an insight to a part of Prince's recording habits. I personally could do with more of that kind of info.

But there were some kewl tunes too! To have songs like Hide The Bone[/] is pure joy. Bouncy, bouncy, bouncy.

And as a last thought about The Crystal Ball... Wouldn't it make more sense to release unreleased stuff according to time tables? [i]Sign "O" The Times
was a collection of different projects too, but at least these songs were recorded in the same time frame. The Crystal Ball to me is riding on a Greek Island. You can drive on for some time, but then you have to come to a full stop becuz there is a hole in the road...
We need less holes and more 100Mph, now don't we?

I'd like to see Crystal Ball become an annual double cd release with one cd of unreleased studio tracks & one cd of live material.

Hey, he released "Poom Poom," no reason why he couldn't release "Baby You're A Trip."

Plus, even though he released "Movie Star," no reason why he couldn't release "A Place In Heaven" - "supposed to make you horny, make me wanna go to the bathroom."

Oh, and nobody said "Climax?" I have two versions of that, I love the bassline! Better than "Let's Work!"

So greedy.
I'ld be happy with one album a year.
The Crystal Ball series (still think the name should change) is too beautiful too ignore.
Why not have lots of new material AND old stuff too.
UNEDITED and with lots of liner notes and unknown pictures and art design.

"Please mr Nelson. Be so kind and RELEASE I-IT!"

Gooey pretends to be on hos knees, but is ready to bitch slap Mr Nelson through the vault until he shows signs of sense...

CB2; outtakes
CB3; extended versions
CB4; remixes
CB5; extended version of b-sides
CB6; best of live (like one song from the Dirty Mind Tour, one from Lovesexy etc)
CB7; an antire Dirty Mind Tour show...
CB8; best of live aftershows
CB9; an entire aftershow (the original Purple Rain recording performance @ 1st Avenue)
etc.
etc.

Okay; let's get greedy
He can do at least 10 albums a year...
