Is it me or is Prince going a bit too fast right now?

I think maybe my father anxiety is spilling over into my fan life, but is Prince going a wee bit... er... "fast" lately? I mean:

21 dates in London
Austin, Texas
Minneapolis
The Roosevelt Hotel
The Hamptons
A new CD
And probably several other events/projects Im not aware of

Should Prince slow down a bit? Are you guys concerned... or just looking forward to a really exciting summer, as I should be doing after dropping a stress pill? lol

not really ... he is still young, he has his bounce, and time has no meaning.

It feels like the period of 1984-1987 all over again. So many projects going on, so many hit n run things. It's cool and he's bringing it to the funkypeople.

Well, if Prince is true to his word about taking time off to travel and study the scripture, maybe this is his way of having a final hoorah and going out with a bang.

He looks like he's doing ok so far. I'm sure that his new method of setting up camp in one place relieves some of the stress.

I thought about this. Maybe you're right. If it's true, though, it'll be odd not having him around for awhile.

I feel where you’re coming from. I’m always concern about Prince. Prince is my music of choice and I worry and care about him like my own.
Hopefully after these engagements r met he’ll take time out 4 himself... Remember he’s suppose 2 take time out 4 Bible Study. Prince looks fine, healthy and appear 2 be enjoying himself. I look forward 2 anything Prince related I live right here in L.A. and could kick myself 4 not seeing him in Vegas.
Seem like everyone wants a piece of Prince, I know I do lol

I wouldn't worry too much. He looks pretty healthy to me, still with plenty of energy. He can look after himself by now.

When the time comes for him to shuffle off this mortal coil, I'd hazard a guess he'd much prefer to keel over in mid-splits half way through 'Girls and Boys' than any other way out. wink

Just keeping busy, nothing new. Seems he's 'mobile' to me, seems to be away from MPLS a LOT more than before. (Has he got a permanant home in the U.S at the mo'???) Maybe it's just because he aint settling right now??

I think this summer is a perfect illustration of why it's fun to be a Prince fan.

He does things no one else does. Most of them work, too.

I dig the ride.

None of this is really different than announcing an album and a summer full of standard tour dates of, say, 30 shows. shrug

Too fast for Prince, or too fast for some of us to keep up? 'cause honestly, I'm confused about what's going on and when.

I asked an org friend about some of the upcoming events. Neither of us were clear. I said "Prince needs a Calendar" and he said "Yeah, I hope it's nude".
But, I meant one like this. Even if it's for the next couple of months.

Yes, his schedule seems to be a bit much and not something that anyone should keep up for a long period...but when it's all past, he'll really need that vacation.

cool Prince is just being Prince to me. He is just doing what he enjoys to do. playing, performing, & putting out his music. He never seems to slow down. This is his tour. I think he will do this throughout the Summer in different states & cities. I am not looking for nothing major. That was suppose to happen when 3121 was released i remember.

Prince has a manager these days, so there you go.

Tbh, I'm guessing but it's an educated guess.
From a recent article comes the info that he has an ex sony-music exec working for him. And it seems unlikely that it's Prince himself hammering out the deals with the multitude of commercial operators he has teamed up with.
The Prince machine is definitely firing on too many cilinders right now for me to believe this is still the same mom-and-dad type outfit behind NPGMC etc.
This would probably not be the type of manager that tells the artist what to do, but would know how to give advice and produce on set goals.
Prince has done team-ups with network operators several times before, going back a good amount of years. He's also done ringtone business before, as well as perfume. His "touring" method is very interesting to me. I can see myself flying into Japan when he's set up shop there for a few months. I hope less games will be played with the ticketing tho.
What I'm trying to say is (smile) i think the vision is Prince's, but there's a quality person producing commercial results.

he's just putting himself in various spotlights this time 'round
stead of a single one (internet release, limited us tour etc).

it's nothing really new.

the album's already finished i guess so that's no more work, as
is the video and single release.

all those dates is basically prince doing what he loves most,
bringing the music to the people and feeding off their energy.

that's not that many hours, ok ok it's hard work getting up on
stage and exploding completely for a few hours and all and the
travelling and schedules are no doubt hectic.

but an estimated 100 hours of performing from now till the end
of december sure beats the schedule of those single moms out
there working 2 jobs and raising their babies.

nod

besides prince is a multi millionaire. once he's finished with
his "job" for the day, he gets all the luxury money can buy.

that sure beats the guys working double shift and coming home
to domestic arguments and sloppy joe's, lol.

so let's not think prince has that hard a life.
and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

one of the very few times, we disagree, friend. His performance and production pace were extraordinarily heavy in the mid-to-late 80's AND the mid-to-late 90's. The pace he's working now isn't quite as fast . . . for him, anyway. Plus, he can make a killing as a solo act, and play a lot of dates in a short period of time, which is something he has over most of his contemporaries.

Seriously, though: I think all of you are making sense on this thread. I'm just tripping on how quick this man can move... pushing 50, no less! shake It's incredible!

I suppose I should stop worrying and get myself a ticket to one of these dates, assuming our man is on the cusp of a sabbatical.

No one has any idea how long this study break may last.
Prince is a Gemini which means intense interest in a subject at first
then it gradually ebbs away until the next distraction rolls around.
We've seen it happen before with Prince.
This need to travel may last 3 to 6 months & then it will be back to work.
Hopefully in the midst of traveling he will be musically inspired to record somthing & then rush release it.(Yeah right! lol )

I said something similar on another thread...and I have to say I think Prince taking a sabbatical is an excellent idea.
