Prince is aging more gracefully than I would have predicted

I don't mean how he looks--I mean how he acts/performs/behaves.

If you would have asked me in 1984 what a near 50 year old Prince would be like--I would have predicted a pretty mess. So much of Prince's energy back then seemed to be this raw, young, sexual, type of power--something that I thought wouldn't have aged very well..

However, I think Prince has honed his whole persona/career/performance really nicely with his age. Prince at almost 50 is still in top form. He isn't this sadly aging rock star--if anything he has hit another commercial peak in his career. Sure, we may bitch an moan about how we miss certain Prince eras, but the bottom line is that Prince is still untouchable and has aged VERY gracefully.

Maybe not. He was wearing them at the concert 2 weeks ago. Maybe he has a few heel-free days now and then.

I knew he would still look brilliant at 49,inn a few days. The hottest man on earth annd I just know that under all that gear he wears these days,he still has that TIGHT HOT BODY!Saw a glympse of it at the Alma's.I think he feels he needs 2 cover up cos of his age(trying 2 b conservative)but probably does't really want 2.
And I quote "If GOD made anything finer then PRINCE,he kept it for himself" biggrin

As skywalker said in the first line "I don't mean how he looks", I'll refrain from my obvious jealousy that I know I'll never look that good at 49.

In terms of performance, however, it seems he is getting better with age.

The recent albums aren't considered as good as the older ones by most people. Whilst that can be debated, and has been on numerous occassions, it would seem that most now consider his live performances to be at an all time high. Still a subjective, debatable point, but very few come away from a live show and are not impressed.

He no longer has to hump things on stage, or wear ass-less trousers to impress or shock. His craft and energy are more than enough now, and they probably always were. As skywalker said, he has matured very well without losing any real form, a testament to his musical ability.
So look into the mirror, do u recognise some1? Is it who u always hoped u would become, when u were young?

It's almost scary when I think about it sometimes.

I just saw him do "Computer Blue" in the movie (a certain site has that clip up... for a little while).

He has changed so much in those 23 years that its so hard to believe sometimes that he's the same person now.
He looks the same, but his attitude is so different. He's not an all-out firecracker... but he approaches music with a certain wisdom and sophistication that comes from experience.

I can't wait to see what he's like tonight... and how much he's changed since I saw him last at the NAACP awards when he won for best male artist.
had 2 run away... pride was 2 strong. It started raining, baby, the birds were gone

I hate to say it, but I'm a little surprised at how well he is handling the aging process. I was almost kinda sorta expecting him to freak out a little bit. I can't really explain why.

Yeah...the way he looked in the early/mid 90s, I thought he might sink into full-blown Little Richard syndrome. lol

I hafta say, he got it back pretty good. cool

lol I know what you mean!

Some stars who became famous for their youthful image try desperately to hang on to their glory days, and end up looking rediculous. Prince, on the other hand, has really evolved in a classy, mature gentleman.

I, for one, am very glad that he is no longer rocking the bikini briefs and thigh highs!

(or whispering his interview answers into Mayte's ear, for that matter lol)

This brings me back 2 the subject'did Prince do drugs?'
I firmly believe the odd experimental/curiosity-Yes.But I don't believe he done it regularly, especially considering the way he has aged so gracefully.I believe Prince had the smarts 2 know back then 2 take care of himself.Hence the fact he doesn't really drink either.
What do u think?I'm talking mentally as well.Someone once posted 'have u seen Prinnce annd MJ at a James Brown conncert on You Tube,Prince definetly was on drugs!' To this I reply-It seemed to me,considering James Brown was one of Prince's idols growing up,that he was actually awe-inspired by the moment trying to do somethin brilliant, but with such a genius mind ,there were to manny ideas a floodin. It was all tooooo much.Mind you his performance was brilliant compared 2 MJ 'I love you'.
My theory annyway
Sorry 4 driblinng
