I don't know, just like you don't know what he gave. he didnt give a mill I know that! yall Know Prince is selfish If he cared he would have went to houston and done a FREE concert for those people who were going through so much the NBA players went down there Shaq,Jordan,Kobe had 3 18 wheelers full of food and water with them....Did prince do that? NO but he will go to Texas for a wedding but not to help his own people? how sad? I love Prince more than anyone but I also realize he needs to check his ego at the door Have you seen his bank records? You must be his accountant!!! By the way Mr. Accountant, how much does 3 18-wheelers full of food cost? Was it generic or name brand?

Hey Funkme, I wonder if Mr. Accountant thinks that U2 sold out for doing an iPod commercial! He'll probably say "no", and then throw up how humanitarian Bono is and how much money he's donated to charities and stuff, so it will confuse readers and make his point at the same time!

AND IT AIN'T NOTHING TO DO WITH WHO WERE HIS ORIGINAL FANS.... geeez do you have any idea how shallow that sounds??? Besides, Prince started attracting a very diverse fanbase from early on. The bandwagon jumpers were just more of the same that didn't stay for the whole ride. I get what you mean by that, but that isn't what I was referring to anyway. It's this statement you made: "umm, who are we to judge a person and how they earn their money?", but then you turn around and say: "how about not giving a damn and making music for the craft versus the economics?". Aren't you judging him and how he makes his money? no, im just pointing out there are two models to being a musician that an artist can take... and for those who question my logic there are four artist whom i can think of that don't bother going the route prince does each album (ie, sponsorship): aimee mann, bjork, sufjan stevens and ani difranco. but even aimee mann has sold out a couple times and made appearances on WB shows to gain interest in an album. and like i said about prince, aint nothing wrong with that. I'm assuming you're an Aimee Mann fan, so let me ask you this. Did appearing in those WB shows make the music any different? Or did you become different because you felt like she was selling out? I ask this because I can't see a big difference between, let's say Diamonds and Pearls and 3121 from an artistic point of view. As a matter of fact, and I'll use the term sell-out for a min., I think Prince sold-out MORE on D&P by forcing Hip-Hop into his sound. [Edited 6/4/07 6:35am] [Edited 6/4/07 6:36am]

Unlike those other (great) artists you mentioned, Prince has had a taste of the BIG time so I think there are different expectations on him... most that he probably places on himself. Think about all the questions he had to answer in the 90s about his major sales-slump only to give some BS 'that's how they measure success' response. I dunno... I think it's different when you reach megastar status as suppose to always coasting with modest popularity. Baby, that was much too fast... 1958-2016

You know if Prince had a Viagra ad, you'd be the first in line trying to get some. You can't knock Prince for finding new innovative ways to get music out. He's going with what hot. He knows that if you have a phone that can ID music just by holding up to the song, why not role with it. He knows that if he puts out a good album die hard fans are going to buy it, a few casual fans will buy it, but this is for those people who hear a song by him who may not necessarily buy his album but like one particular song. He will make even more money this way. Hell, I would do the same thing and think nothing of it. If you really don't like it, don't buy his album and don't go to any of his concerts. I bet you won't do that. So whose the sellout now! __________________________________________________
