Which albums since the 90's had the best and worst choices of singles? What album had the most amount of singles that didn't cause you to say "He should have released (blank) instead of (blank)? What album did just the opposite?

BEST:
ALBUM: Diamonds & Pearls SINGLES: Cream, Diamonds & Pearls, Gett Off, Money Don't Matter 2 Nite WHY: Great eclectic choice of commercial, yet interesting singles - and not too much Tony M (as the rest of the album was plagued with him LOL) WORST: ALBUM: Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic SINGLES: Greatest Romance WHY: A great track, but not single material IMO. He should have released "So Far So Pleased" and tapped into the No Doubt/Gwen Stefani audience. There ya go [Edited 6/3/07 16:48pm] Toejam @ Peach & Black Podcast: http://peachandblack.podbean.com

BEST: Diamonds & Pearls
I can't think of anything on the album that would make a better single than the 5 songs that were released. WORST: The Gold Experience I Hate U was a good release for r&b radio, but it should have been a double A-side with Endorphinmachine. That song is a crowd-pleaser among non-fans. A good follow-up would have been Shhh, even though it was already a hit for Tevin Campbell. Gold would have made a good single if the single version and the version that radio played had the guitar solo in it. I know edits exist with the solo, but those aren't the ones I heard on the radio (and I did hear it on the radio a few times). Rave also had bad singles. I know it really only had one, which was fine. But instead of Man O' War (or in addition to, simultaneously) being promo'd, it should have had So Far, So Pleased. That song was probably that album's one shot at a hit. [Edited 6/3/07 17:26pm] "Half of what I say is meaningless; but I say it so that the other half may reach you." - Kahlil Gibran

Emancipation could have had a much better lead-off single too Somebody's Somebody/The Holy River were good. But Betcha By Golly Wow was pretty pathetic. Nice enough version, but the kick-off to your magnum opus, 3-disc, first "free" statement after years of bitching about your label is a cover of an oldie made to sound like The Most Beautiful Girl In The World?
