Just an observation.......Please read I have been listenin' 2 Prince since 1985. My first "record" was Purple Rain with the fold-out poster of the Revolution. I really don't like all this "fam-friendly" stuff that Prince is doin'. It seems like all it does is causing strife and fussin'. I personally like it back n the day when U could catch MTV news and get a 30 second clip of Prince or catch some magazine with him on the cover. I really don't care 4 all this accesibility. It is all my opion. What happend when u could bank on a new cd n the stores every year like clock work. As much as I am pro-internet, I don't like the way this "music club" is operated. Finally, I hate 2 say it, but I really feel that Prince leavin' Warner Bros. was probably 1 of his biggest mistakes. At least then we would be guranteed "new" music annualy. Just think, if he was still with Warner Bros...we might have Sign o' The Times on DVD by now.
just my observation...

don't u think prince knows a revolution reunion tour would rake in millions, it ain't about the money, mag covers and mtv endorsements, it's all about the music, u either dig it or leave it. sounds like u want 2 leave it, that's cool, nobody is obligated 2 continue 2 buy anything and everything prince just because they thought purple rain was the bomb in 1984, just my 2 cents...

U know what gets me about this-U bring up a good point-I used to LOVE waiting to see if the new release would be in pic disc, what remixes we'd get-the limited formats, the design of the cases, and the artwork etc.Prince is one of those artists that its FUN to collect rarities of(picture discs, shaped pic discs,7",12",remixes,promos-the lot).Luckily he has a BIG back catalogue we can chase after-BUT having a CD full of downloads just aint as exciting for some one who likes to collect.

On the contrary, I think it's the lack of accessibility that confuses us. I've heard him say things during live performances that clear up many of the misconceptions we have about song lyrics, his beliefs, etc. Chats and interviews have also been cool. But when he makes a vague controversial reference in his lyrics (or thru a cryptic statement on NPGMC), and we hear nothing more about it, that's when the "strife and fussin" come knockin. But somehow, he seems to like that... being controversial y'know. Sometimes I think it'd be cool just to have instrumental versions of all his songs. Controversial instrumentals are rare indeed (outside of classical and religious music history).

My opinion is this if you are a fan why should you stop being one even if you don't agree with his decisions? I for one think it's just fine and he's never been better. He doesn't need Warners! There are other labels if he wants a label. He's smart enough to know exactly what will sell and what do promotionwise. He's an Artist. He's Prince. He Kow-Tows to nothing and no one! Stand behind his decisions. His music is great and remember you must come to your senses there are no Kings only Prince's! I will stand behind him Jehovah Whitness, whatever cause he's my Hero! You should also!

That's because you're coming from a consumer's point of view. This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

Once again...under appreciated. He's
released so much more music without the restraints of the industry.

i just think it sucks that ppl who might not have an extra $100 a year lying aroung (like me who lives on $800 a month) can't hear the new music

I don't know what you are trying to say here. Do you want Prince to be like MJ? Constantly straining to be "hip" and "cool" again. Prince has never gone that way. MTV followed him, not the other way around. At the zenith of his popularity he chose to make ATWIAD, NOT Purple Rain 2. That is and always has been Prince. He makes music for himself firstly, knowing that the quality will bring an audience - no matter how big or small.
I only wish he would've made a more "fam" freindly album years ago. I thought Rave was awful, and hopefully that was his last attempt at going for the hits again. TRC is the best album he's done since Lovesexy for me. The hits will come again, of that I am sure, and they will come on his terms. Not those of MTV etc. -----------------------------------------

Well, I am glad 2 c that y'all responded 2 my ramblin'. First, let me say, this is my first post 2 a message forum. I had rather b "seen and not heard". So if my "please read" was not appriate let me know. Cool.
Ok, second, I never said anything about his spiritual beliefs. 4 the record, I don't agree with them (mainly cuz of my ignorance, I know little of Jehovas Witness). I never said that I didn't support him or his decisions.I guess the greedy side of me misses the good ole' days(n my mind). Callin' up record stores buggin' the folks about new cd singles, cassette singles and the like. I remember back n 92', I taped off 8 hours of crappy, sucky MTV just 2 catch the premire of "Cream", while I was at school. 2 me, those were the days. I wish we could have balance. Later
