Lolita best song on 3121 I just love Lolita. It's the closest he's been to the minneapolis sound in years. It's funky catchy irresistible.
What is it alot of you don't like about it. Just curious to know. Why some love one song and others don't. For instance Dear Mr Man gets alot of love but I find it boring and the worse song on Musicology. I'm sure if this had surfaced as an outtake from 1982 that was meant for What Time is It, it would classed as an essential song that should have been released, or maybe you love The Time stuff and think this is a pale imatation of Prince Circa 1980-1983

i don't mind it but it sounds like a song that would be played during a basketball game, which to some people i guess would be a good thing, but i hate sports.
i'm still partial to "love", though i think it would benefit from an extended version with the "let's skate" break stretched out longer.

Worse. Prince. Lyrics. Ever. Not a great song at all, but surely the lyrics aren't as bad as on Be My Mirror. 3121 has not songs of any merit, maybe Fury is OK but thats about it. [Edited 6/3/07 9:14am]

it's a good song but 3121 and Love are better. The SNL version of Fury rules them all, but the album version isn't that great. But Lolita ia a fun song.

I don't like Lolita at all. That and The Dance are my very least favorites. 3121 and The Word are the best on that album. I like Black Sweat, Fury, and Love a lot too. "Half of what I say is meaningless; but I say it so that the other half may reach you." - Kahlil Gibran

I think The Word is the best song on 3121

Yes, I agree, Lolita is easily the best on 3121. Its funky and fun and sounds a bit like some of the Time songs with his 'fellas' speech bit. He also sounds younger and much more fun as a result - shows he still has his sense of fun
It also sounds reminiscent of Soft and Wet and Head. [Edited 6/3/07 10:18am] [Edited 6/3/07 10:19am]

I have loved "The word" from the first time I heard it, so I think that is the best song on 3121.

I've always liked the song quite a bit... but I wouldn't go as far as to say its the best on the album.
The Word/Dance give it a run for its money. I found it appealing, not only cuz I remember him doing it on American Idol (b4 I started taking him as seriously as I do these days). I was listening to it a few months ago... and it has Prince's charm all over it. I mean, you could picture him as he is now singing it, telling a young flirtatious girl that he likes her, but not enough to leave his current worman. I enjoy songs that really reflect how far he's come and such, this is the best example I can come up with that shows how irresistible he is for a guy edging 50 (that's scary ) had 2 run away... pride was 2 strong. It started raining, baby, the birds were gone
