Best 'Prince moment'

This could b in a particular concert, or when u first heard a song, or you were in a particular situation >
your most memorable and beautiful Prince moment!

Mine: The moment I was running into the stadium in Rotterdam - the doors just opened - to witness my first Prince concert!
It was back in 1990, I was really excited during the hours before the concert.. then Prince came out on stage- I'll never forget smile

So what's your 'moment'?

arguably the first itme seeing the man was pretty amazing, but I think there were several parts of the piano sections fo the Ona shows that were really up there, such as Purple rain, or Sometimes it snows in april.

For me, it was at the Brixton accademy 1998. Chaka Khan was on stage singing I Feel 4 U when a voice comes over the PA, "hey girl, that's my song". Then little man walks on, duets it with her and just strolls off again. The place went mad and I get the goose bumps just thinking about it.
RIP sad

The first time I saw Prince make that funky face in person! Also, at the ONA show, I sat and watched Prince doing the soundcheck 20 feet from where I was sitting. That was incredible! That whole night was incredible.

Great story! I saw him with Lenny K back a few years. When prince came out, the crowd went absolutely bonkers.

TRON

It seems like everytime I see him in concert he tops himself. Usually when I get his new album or a new bootleg, I'm on a Prince high for weeks. I'd have to say the very best Prince moment in 18 years of being a fan was the Xenophobia Celebration. Especially night 5. woot!

1. One Nite Alone soundcheck
2. Watching him film a scene from Purple Rain while visiting Minneapolis. I was just shopping. Had no idea he was in the mall filming.
3. One wicked dance move during One Nite Alone (Buffalo) where he stepped back, did a slick cross-over leg kick and assorted other moves - ALL WHILE STILL PLAYING THE FRICKIN' GUITAR!!!
Man, that was da bomb!
4. One word: Avalanche (live in concert).
5. Dolphin, live on David Letterman. (where he shoots himself in the head at the end, falls on the floor with Mayte stroking his head, and everybody goes, what just happened?
6. Arsenio Hall performances, especially at the end of Cream where he eats the guitar pick, enjoys the taste and seems to ask the audience what they think, then ends the song on his knees with a final guitar stroke.
7. Arriving in Philly at 3 a.m. and hearing "I Hate U'' for the very first time coming from my car radio (extended version).

Two moments: The first time hearing the Sign of the Times album, and,

The first VH-1 Fashion Awards show where he performed Interactive and Endorphinmachine in '94. I had never heard Prince rock so hard and it was kind of the start of his really "angry, I hate record companies" phase. But those two songs were so great that first time, and I couldn't wait to get new music from him.

MTV Sign O The Time/Play In The Sunshine performance...

just him. kat and the doctor...and he tore the place up...and then out of nowhere...BAM!! Sheila and Co...one of the best award show performances of all time (that and Janet's performance of What Have You Done for the Grammys).

and this one is going to sound silly but, the intro to Rasberry Berrett...the whole song intro and his cough...something magical about that momment...I was very young but still could comprehend that this man danced to his own beat...not to follow up with something similiar to the Purple Rain music...having the rainbow band supporting him...Lisa's flowing hair, Wendy's tight body and revealing outfit...that dorky guy with the white drapped garb sitting on the side of the stage...Right then and there I was hooked...and then he coughed and I remember thinking, "uhhh, was that a mistake?"

i knew right then and there at age...i dont know 10...never expect the expected from this lil man.

When Prince stared at me during part of his Lovesexy "God is Alive -- Cross the Line" speech in Oakland, Nov 88.

Also, more than ten years later while Prince was playing a very long guitar solo at the Fillmore in San Francisco, he had his eyes closed, then opened one eye, looked straight down at me (perhaps checking out my reaction) and then closed it again.

Walking in during "Paisley Park" at the Oakland soundcheck in 2001 and being a part of that whole experience.

Oh yeah, and being able to chat with him online about spirituality at various times during the building of the L4OA website.

None of these are anything to rave about, but are my personal favorite moments... so far. Besides, who else am I gonna tell?

I agree with TRON..this year's celebration was INCREDIBLE, each day and every night. I thought I had seen P at his best already, but the Celebration was something else...I could go on but...!!!

Can't wait for London!

I remember that! people were still coming in at the time the place was half full, i was about to get a beer, after he wandered off, the beer line was a mile long dammit.

that whole night was magic! Remember during 'nothing compares 2 u' when that fan thing broke down and made a noise like a kerb drill? Prince stopped playing and that roady scuttled out and removed it, he looked a little embarrased at that but when he finished the song the place went Ballistic! What an ending to a show. Magic.lol

The best Prince moments were Miami Glam Slam for his birthday when he played in 1994 for 3 nights. June7/8/9 each night was better than the previous night. I miss those birthday shows. Prince always played for his Birthday. That was such fun. Wow,so many things have changed! Why Prince Why? Another Great moment Atlantic City Trump Marina for Jam of the year with Prince,Larry and Chaka Khan in 1999.

Xenophobia, 3rd night, 2002. Me, standing INCHES from the Paisley Park stage. Suddenly, a trumpet blows in the background and Prince - like a cross between Moses and the Pied Piper - wades through the crowd, with band in tow. He was so close my eyes nearly popped out of my head! And I touched his shoulder! A-MAZING moment (my friends said my face was a picture!).

4th July 1990 - Wembly Arena Nude Tour.

4th row seats and getting a sweaty towel from THE MAN thrown to me. That was something else.

At the same concert he played 'Nothing Compares...' - it had just been a hit for Sinead and it blew us all away.

To me, it was in August 1993 in Madrid. I saw Prince and Mayte in the Hotel Villamagna. It was 4 or 5 o'clock at night!!
That was amazing. I saw them get out of the car and I just had the chance to say "hello" to them. Then Prince looked at me and my cousin and made something like a bow to us and got into the hotel. There were no other people there, except for the hotel workers.
The concert in the bullring the day after was just incredible.

My favorite moment had to be seeing Prince for the first time last year in San Diego. I realized that Prince really was/is a genius. The whole vibe was so electrifying. I still can't but it into words, it was just too much. Listening to Purple Rain for the first time when I was 9 was amazing to me because it was the first time that I listened to an album as a whole and loved every song off of it and I had been a fan for a while when I heard it. Seeing Prince perform on the MTV awards in 87 & 91 was off the chain. I wish he would do another performance of them award shows again.

Peace
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that
