I don't see what the big deal is, anyone could have recreated this by sheer coincidence. It's painfully simple.

This sounds more like a nod to U2 than anything else. Sort of like how u2's entire song Lemon is an unmistable nod to Prince.

I don't think anyone said that Prince was stealing anything...just that they sound similar.

I don't think Prince did it on purpose, but it just came out that way. Bono did say that Lemon was inspired by Prince though.

Its Chorus obviously takes from the Beatles back in the USSR. I am not too familiar with the U2 song so i cant speak on that, although U2 don't own 8th note progressions y'know.

What i noticed today was how the end jam sounds like something from supertramp.. whats that song called? is it goodbye stranger? the vamp and production is very very similar indeed.

Coincidence? Maybe. Homage? No way. Prince hates U2.

He doesn't hate them. He has some sort of childish rivalry going on with them in his head. That's all.

I'm disappointed by this. Folks don't give Prince enough credit as it is and now he'll look like he's getting ideas from a far inferior musical act.

This is a prince forum so we all think Prince is GOD, but there is no way you can say Prince is better than U2, and U2 are better than Prince. Both U2 and Prince are legends in their own right and have established themselves in their respective genres.

He did an aftershow with them...The Pod, Dublin, spring 1995.
Bono sang ( tried to sing ) The Cross.

For God's sake, the U2 reference is tenuous to say the least. Just drop it.
