Anxiety said: i just got off my wireless ouija with prince, and i can't say a whole lot right now but he's really excited for people to see how this album is going to be packaged. the liner notes are going to be printed on a substance made from trees and recycled materials, which is pressed to a super thin and bendable quality, which enables people to flip from page to page (based on an ancient egyptian invention). these liner notes will either be glossy or matte, he didn't say. i even consulted with my magic purple 8-ball and he said "reply hazy - ask again later". he wants us to be surprised.

If you are, then yeah, that's fairly specific. If this isn't what you mean then specify exactly what you do mean. EXACTLY.....the opening line. And there you have it... All will be revealed in the coming weeks/months. If the opening line ain't "Dance the dance electric", or a BLATANT reference to that song, then that's the end of Graycap's integrity in my eyes. yall aint rite. Why are yall being so mean? Because he has yet to prove that he actually knows what he's talking about (is an 'insider'). It started with this thread: http://www.prince.org/msg...1009?&pg=1 Furthermore, when people try to get him to reveal more details or point out inconsistencies in his posts he flips it and says we don't understand or Prince changed his mind. People who are really in the know don't post vague shit...they say, "I know x, y, or z" and answer questions to the best of their ability, without being all cryptic. (Check out Jseven's threads, for example.) Graycap is all about trying to be mysterious and vague. And the bottom line is that none of what he's "claimed" to know has ever come to fruition (as far I can remember). I actually have more faith in this post at Housequake (even though I'm not familiar with his posts) than I am with anything that Graycap posts. No beating around the bush, just "here's what I know" in straightforward language.

The New CD...sounds like.....
Talk about a R3volution? I’ll share a little about what I know on this new cd. I while ago the question was asked in subtle ways as 2 what type of cd people would want from Prince. The general consensus seemed 2 be a ROCK/GUITAR flavored style. If that consensus was correct then u lovers of the ROCK should be pleased. I CANNOT give away 2 much but l will say that the guitars will be hot and heavy 2 say the least. U will also see some old band members make an appearance here and there on the cd. When it’s all said and done, at least from my perspective, the R3volution has come full circle. There is more 2 come……….. U will be pleased. The title of this thread misleads and SHOULD say: “SPECULATION. . .The New CD. . .sounds like”. When I read this I see that what he knows is what anyone who has listened to what Prince has been playing for the last year would know. I haven’t been to a show since Musicology and I can figure out from the reviews that he has been playing a heavier styled music with the guitar and the bass. If you go to 3121.com you can hear the music’s not light. If we are throwing speculation then mine is that it could be a heavy European rock styled album because of many of the cover songs that have been played, his interest in current European artists, and his stay in London. “The Dance Electric” Prince Opening line is: Good morning children Take a look out your window Our world is falling It's almost time 2 go

Well, I like Gaycrap...I mean Graycap!...He seems like s decent chap (or chapess) and when theres no official news coming from the Prince camp he at least gives us something to talk about...whether he turns out to be right or wrong doesn't really matter. I mean, no one is going to die because of it...unless its dying of laughter at some of the responses he gets. Its all good fun, I say, and to be fair he has been right once or twice in the past.
Rock on, good sir. "Don't hate me cos I'm beautiful"

not sure why everyone cares that its a rock album, Chaos and Disorder was an awesome rock album and it was panned universally by critics and non-fans. Only true fans seem to get that album.
If P wants more commercial success, I think he needs to go down the funk/ballad (non falsetto) route. Most non-P fans see funk as his trademark. It was Purple rain the last time that he had a rock hit (or am i wrong)? Outside the FAN world P is known for the funk.

His biggest hits have usually been a combination of funk with a healthy dose of rock guitar worked in, they cross over to a variety of fans. When Doves Cry tore up a dance floor, but was also full of borderline psychedlic guitar. I think that's why the lastest stuff hasn't churned out big hits: it's either straight funk/R&B(musicology, black sweat) or straight rock (fury, guitar, cinammon girl).

What made him so innovative was his synthesis of black and white music styles. The brother can do karaoke in his sleep! Baby, that was much too fast... 1958-2016

Altho, I am still happy to have him at least make ALBUMS that attempt diversity, even if it's song by song. It's more than most artists can pull off. I think the last track that really attempted that old-school mix of styles was "The Word," but unfortunately the overly preachy lyrics kept it away from "hit single" territory.
