I don't know what the new CD sounds like although I certainly know what I HOPEit sounds like. Having been a Prince fan since Lovesexy I have always felt that I jumped on board just when he was commencing his slide from monumental commercial success and popularity. It of course bothered me when I was young and impressionable, wanting my likes to be perceived as 'cool' by my peers, but as I got older this became unimportant....I just wanted Prince to produce a piece of work that met my own personal expectations and gave me the thrill of earlier work. Many of his later albums would give me an initial surge of happiness, accompanied with statements to my friends along the lines of "he has come up with the goods" but they have always faded to the status of also rans.

Today I feel that this album could truly be the culmination of a seemingly unstoppable return of the interest in Prince from the general public, something that has come about in my opinion due to Prince finding his Muse once again and producing the kind of work that hints at greatness around the corner. What I want is an album full of hard rock guitar that somehow captures the power of the man's live performance.....this after all is what has kept him in the mind's eye of a lot of the general public. Even those who profess to be Prince haters will always concede that he cuts it live and proof of this is the fact that 3 of my friends who own not one album between them begged me to get them tickets to the 3rd August O2 Dome gig in London. They are simply drooling at the prospect of what is in store for them, although no where near as much as I am

Having read all of this thread I would just like to say there is an awful lot of stress and angst going around here...none of this is really important and you would think that what Graycap and Gio were saying was akin to murder. I personally find it intriging, nothing more and it wets my appetite for the album I hope soon to get at the concert. It seems as though some people may feel threatened by some seeming to no more than they do as if it makes them less of a fan but then I guess hard core Org posters - like on any other site - often feel like their status is all important. Sorry if that is not fair, its just mu opinion.

Lets all just get excited about the album/gigs to come and try smiling a little
