12 seems about right. he's gotten into trouble going past about 50 minutes, since.... well, since his records started regularly being longer than that (Graffiti Bridge onward). "Half of what I say is meaningless; but I say it so that the other half may reach you." - Kahlil Gibran

i dount that there would be two cover songs on 1 cd.

I'll buy it. Prince seems to have become more literate with computers as a marketing/financial strategy. Particularily since he distains record companies.
If it's downloadable I'll puchase it. Or get it on CD, which is where almost all of my music has been derived. I personally love all his covers, and plan to get the Joni Mitchell CD now out. (if he weren't on it, I wouldn't, as I have her best music already.)

hopefully 'shadows and chains' isn't the cover of fleetwood mac's song about love
if so, he's misunderstood their lyrics and turned the song into a commentary on slavery and evil white man, which divides his fans more certainly than if he asks white folks to stand over here, and black folk to stand over there. personally i might avoid the album if that's on it edited to add: sorry for the mean-spirited outburst. i know i should trust him i know i should believe he means well, and i mostly do. but just when i let my guard down he goes and says thing like 'make you scream like a white lady'. i mean what IS that? his references to black and white get to me more than they should, i guess [Edited 6/2/07 17:08pm]

So, is this tracklist potentially real, or am I being gullible? I did manage to hear a live version of "Shadows and Chains," which is sounding pretty nice, but I'm not gonna be excited if there are really that many covers.

I wouldn't be that surprised if this is the actual album, especially since Prince is planning on giving it away with the price of a concert ticket.
But it looks like a no-single album then (unless I have finally lost all touch with what works on the radio), which is interesting as that does not hold an attractive proposition for a distributor. Yet a distributor has been signed for the new album. [Edited 6/2/07 9:54am] "this especially prepared potato is called pomme de terre"

I doubt his going to put a bunch of covers out as a "giveaway" because he still has to pay the royalties to the songwriters. Good point. Still I could see him putting out an album with lots of covers at this point in time. "this especially prepared potato is called pomme de terre"

02 All Along The Watchtower 03 Best Of U 04 Guitar 05 Love Is A Losing Game 06 Soul Vaccination 07 Planet Earth 08 Shadows & Chains 09 More Bounce 2 The Ounce love If these cover versions sound like they did at the Super Bowl, I’d strangely welcome them with open arms. That’s a lot of guitar. I love all types of music and instruments. But if you’re going to play something, play it like you’re shouting it out from the mountaintops for the very first time. I’m not much for covers, but when you completely reinvent songs, like is being done with “Best Of You” and perhaps even “Watchtower”, that’s what cover songs should be all about. I’m amazed that he can sound almost exactly like whole groups, as in “Betcha By Golly Wow” and “La-La (Means I Love You)”, but it doesn’t strike me as the type of cover that screams for inclusion on a new release. The Joni Mitchell cover is really the only released cover version I’ve ever truly understood from him. I also love “Just My Imagination”, but obviously that was never released. And the alternate production of “Guitar” fits in with these new songs heavy rock guitar sound. The other version simply makes no sense with the Super Bowl. Ultimately I'll decide upon many listening sessions, some of which can get pretty bent out of shape and musically twisted.

Thats the beauty of "How would you feel if Planet Earth comprised the following?" Is it real or is it fake? There is no claim that it is real or even that it is the tracklisting - the question is only being asked what do you think of this tracklisting. If you believe this is the tracklisting then you are willing to believe it 100% on faith alone. There is no evidence or claim that this is the tracklisting. Take it for what it is - a tracklisting from someone who has lied about being a Prince insider in the past.

I believe this is the song known as Somewhere. Fans have been calling it Somewhere Here on Earth based on hearing it in concert but people in the inner circle know it simply as Somewhere. Thats another clue that Anji's tracklisting is fake.
