I finally got my hands on the full track. I gotta say, I love it. Yeah, it sounds like a few too many other songs, but that's kind of true to the garage-rock-Chuck Berry spirit. I'm loving the New Wave keyboards at the end, those 2, count 'em, 2 smoking guitar solos, and the fact that he almost tells her to go to hell before Larry shoots him that look from somewhere offstage. He's done enough innovating to cover a dozen artists--I'm happy with a fun, LIVE-BAND track like this. That said, I'm hoping it'll be surrounded by a few deepers songs on the albume, but if that "Shadows and Chains" track is any indication, I think we're in for a nice and diverse album.

Shit, if Prince loves his guitar so much, why doesn't he just play the thing instead of smothering it in high tech bullshit effects? If he really loved his guitar he'd want it to be heard.

Impression on first listen - pretty throwaway, not in a huge hurry to hear it again. The breezy mood is fine, it's just that musically it never really goes anywhere. It feels very raw and rough - just a "sketch" of an idea for a song, rather than a finished song that you'd ask people to pay money for.

as someone said it has

the riff from 'I Will Follow' (U2), -- cf. "Willing and Able," "When Doves Cry [in reverse]," etc.
the sound/production/arrangement of 'Fury' and
the sub-rhythm of the keyboard riff from '1999'

apart from that its original.

(i also miss the bass from the 1st version)
