Prince at Motown 25? I heard he was at Motown 25th Anniversary show (most memorable for MJ's performance of Billie Jean and first unveiling the moonwalk). Anyway supposedly Prince was there and while everyone else was oohing and aweing and dancing and clapping, he remained sitting, with his arms crossed.
Anyone else have any info on this story? I thought it was funny. Prince sitting there prolly thinking "So? I could do that... "

I don't know anything about Prince being at Motown 25. Especially since he has nothing to do with Motown. My only reason for getting in this passage is that I want to make somethign clear once and for all. About MJ's moonwalk. Everybody(mostly the white media press) wants to give Michael credit for inventing the moonwalk. But he didn't! All the white suburban kids and adults alike never seen that before true enough. But in reality, moonwalking was already around way before Michael did it. New York breakdancers was doing it for a couple of years now by then. Anybody remembers Turbo. Who Michael admitted himself in the book Moonwalk that Turbo influenced him to do it. So if anybody reading this who's in the press media give credit where credit is due. Michael didn't invent the moonwalk! As for Prince being at M25 that's highly unlikely. Peace and be wild!

the most shocking part of the story was that prince was sitting with his arms crossed. back then, wouldn't he be holding a flower or a puppet or something?

k.. well.. then if we're that technical then Turbo doesnt get the credit either.. the real credit goes to those dancing jokers of 'Soul Train' cause they were the ones doing it 1st.. back in the 70's .. FruitToAttractBears said: Prince sitting there prolly thinking "So? I could do that... "

Anyone else have any info on this story? I thought it was funny. Prince sitting there prolly thinking "So? I could do that... " Fruit, seriously...I wasn't aware of this. Interesting, being that P had nothing to do with Motown. Not saying he wasn't a fan cuz who wasn't? I can see P going by an invite. Hell, maybe Michael himself invited him. Where did hear this from? I saw the performance when it aired with a billion other folks. I also have it on tape. I don't recall seeing P's little ass anywhere in the audience, let alone him sitting with his arms crossed. I hope to GOD that he didn't do that. That shit would have made him look like some little sissy ass jealous trick. SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Anyway, I don't think anyone would've been paying attention to Prince, when they were too busy getting their minds blown watching MJ.

What Michael did at the Motown 25 and what came to be known as the 'Moonwalk' isn't actually that - The moonwalk is some other move (Which MJ also did after nicking it off the street dancers)

Jeffrey Daniel (from Shalamar) taught Michael Jackson how to Moonwalk.
Michael had seen him do it during a performance of their latest hit song (A Night To Remember?) and wanted to know how to do it. Apparently he'd only shown Michael how to moonwalk a few hours before the Motown 25 performance!

The program was taped before a live studio audience on March 25, 1983. Uptown's The Vault states that Prince was performing a concert at the Lloyd Noble Center, Norman, OK on that date. He can't have been in 2 places at once.

Not always reliable of course, but wikipedia has some info on the Moonwalk: http://en.wikipedia.org/w...28dance%29 It claims "The actual inventor, Solid Gold dancer "Cooley Jackson", taught Michael Jackson the moonwalk." Well, whatever, there's some links to learn how to do the moonwalk!

Am sure Prince was in awe when he first saw it
Everyone knows that Mj didn't created the moonwalk, even Mj himself said that he didn't create it, But Mj improved , enhanced and perfected the moonwalk, he knew how and when to use it. Thanks for the Info, that was a legendary performance. MICHAEL JACKSON

At first you said 'supposedly Prince was there' then a few posts later you became adamant that he was definately there. I've seen the Motown 25 show and used to have it on tape, I certainly never noticed Prince in the audience, but that doesn't mean he wasn't there off-camera. But unless Uptown got the date of his concert wrong, I don't see how he could have been there if they occurred on the same evening.
