Prince lends "Dear Mr. Man" to Cornel West album From Pitchfork.com

"This is an attempt to go back to hip-hop's prophetic roots," West told the publication, "which are about truth-telling, exposing lies, and having fun." This is old news. He had it streaming on his website a few weeks back. It might still be there for all I know. It's simply Dr. West overdubbing a few lines over the Musicology version of "Dear Mr. Man" (talking about equality etc.).
Interesting, but nothing really "new" in terms of Prince content. Toejam @ Peach & Black Podcast: http://peachandblack.podbean.com

Interesting, but nothing really "new" in terms of Prince content. the album isn't out yet, so the news can't be THAT old.

Here is the actual link to the song with Mr. West's spoken words.
Look in the lower right of the page. This was reported on Housequake.com back in April as well. [Edited 5/16/07 7:46am]

should this thread be removed from the front page as a news item?
1. the album isn't out yet. 2. it hasn't been reported on the org yet as a news item. 3. if it WAS submitted as news, i wouldn't have known about it until last week when i started news modding again. 4. judging from the first half of this thread, it's been news to several people. but if enough folks think this "late news" is an embarrassment to the legacy of the org or whatever, i'll happily take it down, k? it does me no good if i'm ruining the fun for everyone else. sorry to start a whole site discussion thing on this thread, but i wanna make sure i'm not completely destroying the org on my first week back. thanks luvs

This was always one of my favorites from Musicology. It should have been a single. Still, it’s nice to see it getting some attention. Also, the message of Dear Mr. Man makes it more appropriate than using Sign ‘O’ the Times.

I knew about this... like, only a zillion years ago. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

It was new news to me also. What about new people who have never heard of this? Or those of us who don't search the org items posted 4 weeks ago? At least leave it for a reminder.
