I would say 75% of you want to hang me from the nearest tree there, but with the exception of 1 or 2 you get personal as opposed to justifying your reasons. To me a hit is not Britney Spears its a well crafted original pop song, and give yes his career had some highpoints in the Emancipation/ Gold Experience and his last two albums, they offer nothing new like say a group like REM or Madonna have.
As for sexuality well, hes always been a bit you know, the code of the black male is just not to behave like that, to me the image of black men is strong, emotionless and masculine, not dressed up in make up, paisley lampshades and curled up hair. This guy is more like a pimp than a person.

What I draw the line at is the person who said, "What kind of Prince fan were you" I think a bloody good one considering I live in New Zealand, a place where he dosen't even know exists. Here you dont get bootlegs, fanzines and the rest u Americans have, here we get the albums and maybe an article of two about him. I think given my isolation I did as well as possible. All I am saying is I like his music and know his music well, that alone I think justifies my membership card.

I don't see people being "negative"... no one is feeling distraught about your decision... just many are questioning why you feel the need to announce your plans to stop being a Prince fan.

When I stopped being a Prince fan years ago (are U surprise that people here are not sheep and do criticize Prince??), I didn't make an announcement... I just stop buying, stop reading and stopped listening. When I decided I digged Prince again... I just resumed previous activities... no announcement, no debate.

That is what I don't get, and I think many here feel the same way.

The fact that you are still on Prince.org speaks volumes about how you really feel about the man. Trust me, when I was through with Prince, I didn't buy his CD'S, didn't watch him on tv appearances (unless the channel happened to be on the station) and really didn't know anything about his activities... never seen a picture of Mayte until 2004 when I joined Prince.org....
