Well
I would say 75% of you want to hang me from the nearest tree there, but with the exception of 1 or 2 you get personal as opposed to justifying your reasons. To me a hit is not Britney Spears its a well crafted original pop song, and give yes his career had some highpoints in the Emancipation/ Gold Experience and his last two albums, they offer nothing new like say a group like REM or Madonna have. As for sexuality well, hes always been a bit you know, the code of the black male is just not to behave like that, to me the image of black men is strong, emotionless and masculine, not dressed up in make up, paisley lampshades and curled up hair. This guy is more like a pimp than a person. Bimboes, well Cramen Electras album, Mayte is now married to some rock and roller, Manuella, these are women half his age and with about quarter of his brain cells, Prince has always wanted a nodding dog companion, have fun with me, but never question me bitch. What I draw the line at is the person who said, "What kind of Prince fan were you" I think a bloody good one considering I live in New Zealand, a place where he dosen't even know exists. Here you dont get bootlegs, fanzines and the rest u Americans have, here we get the albums and maybe an article of two about him. I think given my isolation I did as well as possible. All I am saying is I like his music and know his music well, that alone I think justifies my membership card. To all of you who supported my decision. 17 Years ago I made a commitment to Prince

How on earth does mean a HIT? And if you ask me, REM and Madonna have released shite music on the most part during the last decade. Baby, that was much too fast... 1958-2016

Someone who actually has the guts to criticize Prince on a site where almost everbody acts like Prince can do no wrong. I have been a fan for many years, that doesn't mean I agree with everything the man says or does. Of course the main aspect is his music and not his personal life. But let's face it: Prince is a public figure and has expressed a lot of his personal life in his music. So why not discuss it and yes, I said it: critisize him when we deem appropriate. We know that Prince doesn't care one way or the other, he probably doesn't even know or care that this site exists. To agree with someone constantly, no matter what he does, is as dangerous as following a cult. When it comes to Prince, we are all just speculating more or less. Or does anyone know him personally? For all those, that had hateful comments: Would you please learn to respect someone elses opinion, even if you don't agree!? love the one who is Love!

Why? 1. He hasn't had any real hits since 1994 2. His loudmouthed hypocritical views on religion 3. His basic denial of coming out (Marrying bimboes) 4. His music has become self indulgent 5. Hes lost touch with the people of today (I mean this is a guy who will pray and spout the words of jehovah, yet he sings songs about graphic sexual intercourse) 6. He treats his fans, associates and family like shit. I don't see people being "negative"... no one is feeling distraught about your decision... just many are questioning why you feel the need to announce your plans to stop being a Prince fan.
When I stopped being a Prince fan years ago (are U surprise that people here are not sheep and do criticize Prince??), I didn't make an announcement... I just stop buying, stop reading and stopped listening. When I decided I digged Prince again... I just resumed previous activities... no announcement, no debate. That is what I don't get, and I think many here feel the same way. The fact that you are still on Prince.org speaks volumes about how you really feel about the man. Trust me, when I was through with Prince, I didn't buy his CD'S, didn't watch him on tv appearances (unless the channel happened to be on the station) and really didn't know anything about his activities... never seen a picture of Mayte until 2004 when I joined Prince.org.... THAT is how you are "through" being a Prince fan. HTH.... "Remember, one man's filler is another man's killer" -- Haystack

You are right, but it is hardly anything to hold against me. Its not New Zealands fault Prince is too arrogant to consider that people in New Zealand may like him. He was supposed to come and do Gisborne in 2000 as it was the first place to see the sun, but he cancelled out and we had to settle for Bowie who also chickened out and then just had local talent instead. 17 Years ago I made a commitment to Prince

This book is quite negative..I mean I appreciated a written record of things til 2000, but their are misfacts and the whole hate Prince agenda. It's taught in Journalism that statistically viewers will read headlines and photo footnotes before reading any body text. So look what's written on the cover: "the Rise and Fall" and the photo footnotes --- ..it's so juvenile, this is high school level drama. Also, it pays to have some critical anaylsis, many times it's not what the information says but what's been omitted or not said. For example, we read about how Prince and the Time don't get along together, various accounts of feuding blah blah blah. Yet, somehow they're back in the film GRAFFITI BRIDGE. Yet somehow they do an interview/appearance on the Rave 2000 DVD. Obviously Prince and the Time have had a dialogue/relations afterword.. is it mentioned? NO. Given equal reporting in the book? NO. It's a bitchfest, alot of assumptions/guessing/gossip. DANCEMUSICSEXROMANCE is objectively written, I recommend it.

What you are saying is, you only liked him when he had chart hits??? If you got a problem with him not going to New Zealand, then move to somewhere normal. First of all, your repeated references to "lynching" and "hanging" are disturbing. Secondly, I don't know if Prince wants a nodding dog companion and I can't imagine him saying "Have fun with me but never question me bitch." Maybe he does, maybe he doesn't, but it's unwise to put words in people's mouths. And last, your faith in "justifying" is misplaced. Just because you can find reasons for doing something doesn't mean it's justified. Just means you found an excuse to do whatever it is you were already inclined to do.
