'Moonbeam Levels' (misconstrued lyrics) OK Einsteins, here's one for you all...
Just which, precisely, is the correct lyric for the main chorus to this unreleased gem from the '1999' era??? it's driving me mad! According to the now defunct Databank Transcription Team, it was: "Please send all your moonbeam levels 2 me" Per Nilsen begs to differ, however. According to his TURN IT UP 0.2 guide it really should be: "Peace and glory of moonbeam levels to be". Any thoughts??? Also, TURN IT UP 0.2, perhaps correctly, has 'Moonbeam Levels' as running for approximately 4:04 minutes, even though they do point out that all times are approximate. However, the 'Cosmos' 3CD set, plus Thunderball's 'The Work, vol.1', which is supposed to be the definitive Prince anthology of unreleased songs, both feature what seems to be the same incomplete version of 'Moonbeam Levels', a version running for just 3:57, which fades out too soon and fails to include a brief piano/synth filigree ending by Prince, which is strikingly similar in style to the conclusion of 'Life On Mars?', that well-known song by David Bowie (piano filigree ending by Rick Wakeman). Completists might be interested to know that the fullest version of 'Moonbeam Levels' that I've come across, short piano/synth ending and all, can be found on an early boot called 'A Better Place 2 Die'. Alas, the entire song runs too fast in here and, be warned: the sound quality here is so bad you're much better off borrowing the wretched thing off a friend instead. But at least you'll get to hear the whole thing! Anybody else out there like me who's sufficiently ga-ga about this song to make such a fuss over it??? "You don't frighten us, English pig dogs. Go and boil your bottoms, sons of a silly person."

It's "Please send all your moonbeam levels to me." Near the end, Prince overlaps the chorus with, "send 'em...send 'em to me" which is the proof.

Per Nilssen must have been getting head from Bart when he wrote that. Moonbeam's right, of course.

Don't get me started on wrong lyrics. what about Girls and Boys. Read the lyrics team, or various books and they state one thing, I hear another!
Example: The bridge in Girls and Boys..Am I the only one on the planet who thinks Prince mutters... "Happiness in a fuck up form, is a feeling that I get no warmth (Warmth) happiness when we do what we do, happiness is being with you, good lord!" I've always believed Prince got away with "Fuck" on the radio with this one, yet no one ever picked it up. Go listen. The lyrics make sense this way. Am I Wrong, or is everyone else? .

Where is it from? It's a 1982 recording from the '1999' album sessions. It's in the same vein as "Free".A lovely little ballad.

I too thought it was "Please send", sounds right.

No one got away w/ "fuck" on the radio more blatantly than he did w/ Erotic City being played ALL the time back in the day, however I don't hear it Girls & Boys. He did say "ass" though - that's worth points, no?

More strenght to my arguement that what's written in these books is not always exactly how it happend, or the definative truth !
