I just bought and watched GB.I've strayed from it so far 'cos of all the rumours that it weren't so good(not talkig soundtrack,that does itself justice) but WHAT THE HELL?What was Prince thiking.Purple Rain had a fairly good storyline,as did UTCM-annd my gosh I think Prince and Jerome were hysterical inn it,not to mention HOT AS!But GB-I don't know,the storyline was crap,acting crap even the set was crap.When Thieves In The Temple came on I thought here we go,now it's rockin' but then flatline....I love anything Prince does or is in but that is the onnly way I ca describe GB, FLAT.Makes me wonder how much involvement he actually had in that movie-to me it seems like it came from someone else.
What do u all think?

actually, i find it quite fun to watch
it's like a puzzle...
it's up to you to figure out the storyline, theme, message, etc.
seems to me like half the movie is missing
someone got too happy in the editing room
a full complete unabridged transcript might help
but pieces of dialogue and some lyrics do act as road markers
and listening to lovesexy and reading its tour program is required
i remember a rolling stone interview that prince did at the time
he was thrilled that some had seen the movie and "got" it
so, apparently, prince was using it as a vehicle to say something

I think he thought he could make some money and tossed the movie together. IMO though, parts are terrible but others I actually kinda like! He should come out with more movies.....

My fav will always be Under The Cherry Moon. Hands down! Purple Rain is a classic but UTCM is great if you want cute face shots, his sexy personality and some humor. I think he missed the mark with GB but he had a message so I applaud his efforts. I love him so everything he does I can find some justification for it.
