Prince wanted Ronnie Wood to join him on one of his London gigs http://www.eurweb.com/sto...r33717.cfm
Leah Wood, the daughter of Rolling Stones bassist Ronnie Wood, says her dad was contacted by Prince recently, who requested that the rocker join him on stage during one of his recent gigs in London. "Prince called up my dad an hour before his show in Camden, and asked him to join him on stage,” said Leah, according to Contact Music. "I'm going to spike up his hair especially." Unfortunately, Wood was unable to make the show due to pre-arranged travel commitments. Leah hopes His Royal Badness will grant her wish and perform at her upcoming wedding. © Bart Van Hemelen

The home page describes Wood as "the legendary rock bassist". He's a guitar player.

That would have made an amazing evening even better. See them break into 'miss you'! "London, i've adopted a name that has no pronounciation.... is that cool with you?"
"YEAH!!!" "Yeah, well then fuck those other fools!"

The bass is a guitar. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

Off topic but Ronnie is a really great artist and joined the Rolling Stones to make money for art school. I own a couple of his pieces. He's REALLY talented IMO. Check it out.

Anyone remember that clip of Ronnie Wood playing 'Miss You' with Prince during one of the Lovesexy aftershows in Camden? Prince was doing a really funny Mick Jagger caricature on the vocals. "Sheeeeeeeeit"

He was playing bass with Jeff Beck years before joining the Stones as guitar player.

He was playing bass with Jeff Beck years before joining the Stones as guitar player. Uh, he's been playing the six-string for over thirty years with the most famous band in the world - I think it's safe to say he's not known as "the legendary rock bassist".

Ron does kick ass on bass. Check out his bass work on "Shattered" from "Some Girls" and "Emotional Rescue".

he probably asked ron wood to drop by a zoo and pick up some camels for him along the way. Hey, if Ronnie was still drinking, he probably would've done it!

There was a funny clip with Wood on YouTube, filmed backstage on a recent Stones tour.
Tom Waits is going backstage with Keith Richards and they go to Woody's dressing room, where Tom's trying to figure out what Ronnie's cappucino machine is. Keith explains that it's there because Woody's "off the stuff". Therein ensues some brief riffing about who's on or off "the stuff". Keef at one point claims that he was "never on" the "stuff" and that he's "pure as the driven snow". Actually, the funniest moment may have been Tom being introduced to Joe Elliott.

I'm glad he didn't make it. It would have spoiled the show in my opinion.

Does Ronnie live near Camden?
I thought he lived just up the road from me.

He is an amazing artist. A friend of mine works at the exlusive Canadian gallery to carry his originals.
However...i find it hard to believe he joined the Stones to earn money for "school" when he joined the stones officially he had already been a major star with the Faces and the previously Jeff Beck Group (where he did play bass actually). He didnt really begin painting professionally until the early 80's Not to criticize you, its just that you made him sound like a starving artist at 30, joining the worlds biggest rock and roll band for tuition money! he was a friend of Mick and Keith's through Rod Stewart when he started jamming with them. His first appearance on a stones album was Black and Blue and wasn't officially a member till 77's Love you live.
