No. You're confusing owning copyrights of master recordings with owning copyrights of songs. This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

Where is Per Nilsen???!!! I no he be on this site!! Warners don't own the rights on live stuff that has been recorded. Prince has been recording a lot of his concerts over the years and last years NPGMC download included some songs from the Parade tour. If Warners owned the rights to them, he wouldn't have been able to release them. ![]()

Double standards . | |

Well for one he wasn't selling a hard copy of Thieves nor was he selling Thieves as an individually available download selection so estimating a financial loss to WB would be difficult. Or he had an agreement to use it that we are not privy to.

But he was making copyrighted material available for download/copy or broadcast, as part of a membership fee, not paid to the owner of the masters. That, is be illegal. .

Alrighty then why didn't WB put a stop to it. How hard would it have been for them to have a cease & desist issued on a download. If it was breaking the law why did WB stand by doing nothing?

As a funny aside the whole time I have been typing that last message I was listening to NPGRadio which was playing Thieves in the Temple.
