Silly Question about "Push"

Why does Prince say before his rap, "You don't want me on the mic." If anything, I thought his voice, singing and rapping was the highlight on the track. I was curious, does saying that have some history or something? Or is it just a random thing? Sorry for the silly question.

Couldn't have said it better myself.
"Plaid shorts are completely over."

I think it's just random. Prince is just play acting coy about singing/rapping.
