Why didn't The Kid win with "Tick, Tick, Bang"? The true answer? Please consider it carefully before replying... thank u

Because it was awful (I've had nearly 20 yrs to consider that).

Movie-wise (sticking with the plot only, that is.)
He didn't win because the song wasn't a team effort. He ignored his bandmates suggestion. They didn't put their hearts into playing and he was concentrating on himself. (lol...and Jimmy Jam had a gameboy) Song-wise (4 the reality of it.) The song just lacked. I never liked it as a kid (I originally watched GB for Tevin Cambell and Prince but a wee bit more for TC...) and I still don't dig it. It's just one of those songs that didn't cut the bacon fat.

Because he didn't hump anything while singing... wait, maybe he did
That song is a grower, took me a while to like it. The only contest it could win is a panny drawz contest - "so baby don't spit me out"

Because that would have spoilt the plot. Duh!

I think it's because, since Graffiti Bridge is basically Purple Rain retold in a parallel universe, that Tick Tick Bang was the equivalent of Darling Nikki, and therefore considered to be tasteless by the crowd. But that's just my guess.

He would have...if he'd done the original version... We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

He wasn't being true 2 himself (according 2 aura) Tick Tick Bang was a cop out [and in the vain of the movie] a completely self-absorbed song. That being said- self-absorsption was Morris' claim 2 fame, and the Kid couldn't truly deliver a song like that with sincerity (definately not better than Morris could). So he loses, and then runs off 2 kill himself, but suicide is a self-absorbed act 2. So aura comes 2 him and pretty much says: "look nigga, all this me me me shit ain't gonna fly ya dig, why don't you just stick with all the spiritual shit i found in ya underwear drawer" Then he plays "Still would stand all time" damn near in tears over the death of aura, and calls for four corners 2 untinue 4 love, which was all he really wanted anyway. 2 share.
Tick Tick bang wasn't no sharing song. It was the Kids version of "Gimmie that P*ssy" shame on you Kid. [Edited 5/23/07 14:28pm]

Really its because he did that "ooh I can't hold it" part. He lost it right there fair and square.

Well, it's no "Purple Rain" that's for sure. "Half of what I say is meaningless; but I say it so that the other half may reach you." - Kahlil Gibran

Exactly... Personally, I think the song is great. Quirky as hell but great.

...what's more effective?
if someone screams at you in a fight do you scream back just as intense or louder? if youre an opportunist, you fly under the radar and get noticed

I think Zekie meant "who decided that The Time had won?" I always wondered because the crowd isn't consulted & then Prince loses, but WHO was supposed 2 say who'd win?
