Besides the GRAFFITI BRIDGE soundtrack, also bought the BATMAN soundtrack by Prince from CD Warehouse yesterday. I've seen the BATMAN movie, and I think this is a good soundtrack to the movie. As an overall Prince album though, it's a bit disappointing. Here's my review of it:

1. THE FUTURE
This song is really not that good. Is has an interesting message, but Prince's vocals sound boring and so does the music.

2. ELECTRIC CHAIR
This is a great song! I luv the vocals and the music. Although, the lyrics "Trippy picture shoo" make it seem like he ran outta ideas LOL!

3. THE ARMS OF ORION
A beautiful duet w/ Sheena Easton. I like the vocals & lyrics.

4. PARTYMAN
This is a really funky party song, plus I luv Prince's funny lyrics on here.

5. VICKI WAITING
This song is very light yet funky, with a good melody. The "Why is your organ so small" joke is hilarious. The chorus is great!

6. TRUST
This song is funky & quirky. It starts w/ Prince whispering "WXYZ!". The chorus lyrics sound uninspired tho LOL.

7. LEMON CRUSH
This is a sexy song, but it sounds really weird. I like the percussion on it tho.

8. SCANDALOUS
A soulful, sexy Prince ballad that gets better & better. I would luv 2 hear the remixes w/ Kim Basinger on them!

9. BATDANCE
This was the big number 1 hit off this CD, and it pretty much sums up most of the album into 1 song. I luv the "Vicki Vale" part! It ends w/ Batman yelling "Stop!".

What is ur point of view on this album?

my view is skewed cuz i got in2 this when i was about 12. only bad songs 4 me are arms of orion and, uh, batdance, which sounds a bit like Late Eighties Sampling 101 class now...

the Future is boring? It's the most convincing House track in Prince's canon! Funky electro non-brass-stabbing oomph! Wkd mate!

Sorry - this is the 1st P album I heard, so I shall hear no lacklustre word directed at it

One time, when I was little,
I was reading a BatMan comic where he was fighting the Swamp Thing in which,
at one point,
BatMan jumped up in the air in such a manner that his momentum carried his feet into a garbage can which then slammed into the muck-monster.
I remember thinking at the time "Daaayaammnn.....that BatMan's got some mad skillz....!!

it's called understated or minimalist (The Future) as opposed to monotone. it fits the dark landscape and condition of Gotham city perfectly

You have to get the remix CD of The Future/Electric Chair. They'll be your new favorite songs.

This was the first Prince album (actually, my first album period).I got it when it came out, so it has something. I think it is an album that is bashed too often, it has some flaws but most albums in general do. I wonder if it was an album not related to the movie or the idea of Batman at all, what would people think of it!

Hey. Anyone bashes Arms Of Orion again... it's gonna get ugly up in here.

Batman is one of Prince very best albums. i can't quite understand why it is so underrated. i know the album came out when prince was under a contractual obligation as well as a shift from the revolution to npg but it fucking amazing. people should get over the demise of the 80's sound and appreciate the genius that is this album. there are only 3 0r 4 albums better

i do like this album quite a lot, but yeah the arms of orion is a pretty ordinary song. But they extended jams from this are just the best songs ever!
The Scandolous Sex Suite anyone? hehe i never thought a 20 min jam of that song would b that good, but damn its got some cool progression.
And The Future and Electric Chair extended jams are awesome too!

I love the album. Nothing to skip, although I don't always feel the mood to appreciate The Future. I love Arms of Orion and Lemon crush passionately, and I don't think there is a better "medley-ish" song than Batdance, it's just SO funky.


I saw a video (and saved to my comp) of Prince performing Electric Chair in a talkshow, and the live version was just soooo sexy that I started to appreciate the song much more, even if the album version isn't quite so lively.

I dig this CD, my 3 favorites in order are Electric Chair, Viki Waiting, and since it not on the CD.. The Scandalous Sex Suite " The Passion " I remember when i use to spin this in the club ,this joint gave up some serious "grinnnnd tiiiime " that synth bass, kick and snare from the drum machine pulsating through the speakers "oooooh wee man"

I like this album a lot. It has a few moments I could live without (The Arms Of Orion... and don't kill me, but Scandalous gets on my nerves). Overall, though, I think it's pretty good. I think I would have preferred the original Rave and Graffiti Bridge releases more, but this one is good too.

Hiya new here but not new to Prince. Had to reply to this one.

I love the Batman album and the ones I am not fussed on are the arms of orion and scandalous but did enjoy the scandalous sex suite he he.

I have found some of them chop and change as to my favs on this album but that's the same with all Prince music....

I LOVE Electric chair and Partman although I could do without some of the samples of the movie in it personally.

I remember reading that when asked to do the Batman soundtrack Prince went into the studio for a number of days straight writing music.... How does a human being do this eh?
