I'm convinced that he's so out there that you really can't get into him unless you have a preconceived respect & admiration for his immense talent. It pretty much lays down the foundation of what any Prince "fan" stands on.
At least, that's what it was for me. PR showed him how dedicated he is to his work and such, therefore, I had a respect for him, not to meant my eyes were glued to the screen during the last ten minutes of the movie.
If not for that respect, I wouldn't have accepted him as easily as I have. And I'm very glad for that.

But he's extremely good at what he does musically, works harder at his craft than than most people do at anything, and is a surprisingly crafty businessman. A lot of people who wouldn't call themselves fans have a lot of respect for him because of this, and I can see why. to Our Hero, he deserves it.

Haven't read the thread, and define "weird", but the list is long. The reason everyone puts Prince so high up on the weird-o-meter is because of his elusiveness and (let's face it) how often he comes off as gay or effeminate. The whole business about another person being inside him, I first heard that while watching a pop-up version of the Raspberry Beret video... and he's got no idea if that person is male or female (might be why he adopted that symbol which combines both). I believe it. It was weird for a split second and I accepted it. If he believes its true, then I believe it.

Haha, I'll get back to you on Graffiti Bridge (I haven't seen it yet, but from what ive heard, maybe i dont want to if its THAT bad).

People tend to think he's weird (at least I would think they would) because he wears makeup & high-heels (no big deal for us), and I think his stage antics in the "good old" days would be regarded as weirdness. I haven't seen many of his live performances from those days (ok, PR is all I have to go on at this point), but ive heard how he "flaunts his sexuality" onstage and all that stuff...

I haven't talked to a lot of people about him, but there's always that "fear" of bringing him up becuz they tend to judge him b4 they truly know he's talented. And I just don't feel like going thru the trouble of defending him cuz it would take hours.

I don't think he's weird at all, but I could understand why people would think so. He's like one in a million, nobody does things like he does
