Overproduced but could've been rockers

or the other way around. I was reading the Fury topic and it got me to wondering what songs of P's would you all list as a song that could've been a rocker or was a rocker when either a) you heard it live or b) somehow heard a earlier demo version and to you it sounded so much rawer and cutting than the album track because P either overproduced the final cut or put a watered down nice and simple and sweet version on the album?

I'm thinking Fury is one compared to live and i've heard others say Endorphine Machine and I think they may be right on that one also because I may have heard the original one also.

Any others?

"Tick, Tick, Bang" is the first that springs to mind.

The version on Graffiti Bridge is way overproduced, and looses the feel of the original.

this won't be a popular opinion, but i think "gold" could have been much better, and much more powerful, if it weren't so overproduced. i like the lyrics to this song and i like the melody, but it sounds like music from a motivational video to me. boxed

I'm not gonna castigate anybody for their opinion but i'm guilty I love that song. I think its the emotional center of that album.

confused Too much glitter?? Other than I wish that the guitar solo at the end could've been a bit longer I think the ending has just the right amount of flash. He was trying to end the album on a big note. It was exciting and emotional. I mean the whole song is a build up and then it sorta blows up going towards the end and slowly vibrates out. He sorta did Holy River like that too now that I think about it. A build to a kick ass guitar solo.
