Contest Song Believe it or not, in all my "travels through the land of Prince", I never found out what ever became of the "Contest Song". I had a brief "lapse" when I was dealing with some personal stuff...
Does anyone know: - Who won? - What became the title? - What are the lyrics? I came across this instrumental in my collection yesterday and thought: Thanks for any enlightenment! "Love Hurts. Your lies, they cut me. Now your words don't mean a thing. I don't give a damn if you ever loved me..." -Cher, "Woman's World"

Fans were invited to record vocals over the track and send it in; as I recall, there was no single winner, they put up around 10 favourites on the website which could be listened to; nothing happened with the title of the original, it remained 'Contest Song' and there's no version with Prince vocals or anything.
Although I could be confusing some of that with when they put up some music samples and invited fans to edit them together into songs; the samples were all from what eventually became Musicology; again I think they put up some of their favourites on the website.

As orange described above. But the songs were horrible. I'm sure that someone out there saved the downloads. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

Thanks...
I know I never really heard anything else about it. "Love Hurts. Your lies, they cut me. Now your words don't mean a thing. I don't give a damn if you ever loved me..." -Cher, "Woman's World"
