Prince music...overproduced....huh?? Just wondering when we talk on here about P overproducing stuff what exactly is meant by the majority of us...I mean I don't know if we all mean the same thing.
What is most of you guys' idea of overproduction? Song sounds too busy?? What?? "Why'd I waste my kisses on you baby?" R.I.P. Prince You've finally found your way back home. Well Done.

It started with Lovesexy. Too many overdubs, especially on vocals. Recording levels are usually way too loud. Rainbow Children was a nice change of pace but he went right back to it with Musicology and 3121.
I'd love for him to let Cody Chesnutt get him on his 4 track.

Overproducing can be very enticing... I have been in the studio with producers that just never knew when to stop. Its a fine line.

right! that Cody Chesnutt was great even though it was a 4 track
you could play that on any system and still get a certain sound with Musicology, the only time it sounded good to me was on a really really expensive stereo system with like 20 speakers surround sound.....you could hear every overdub and he's an expert with that but on a cd with a normally priced sound system, much of what he put into it gets lost and sounds strange if you ask me he should get another producer or just release live albums Prince....call Rick Rubin please
