i like the snip of Jaguar on the Prince Mix i heard. what album is that from? i already suspect its on something i can't get, so i'm not soliciting, i just need to know. as for the Love Song duet with Madogma; haven't heard it, just kinda curious as to what its on.

Jaguar is on the Mavis Staples album Time Waits for No One.

Love Song is on Madonna's 89 album Like a Prayer.

buy a used copy of Time Waits for No One....great album, but I'm a bit disgruntled with Mavis discriminating Prince due to his faith. Kinda weird for a woman of Christian faith isn't it??

dag, the Like a Prayer album huh. was he "incognegro" and sing under a psuedonym? i didn't hear about this, but again i'm not a fan of hers.


i don't think mavis is discriminating against prince per se, at least not based on the comment i read, she's just surprised that he's associating with her if he's a "by the letter' JW.

Jaguar isn't a duet but he's on background on several songs on the album (his signature funky guitar work on Jaguar, for example). Prince wrote or co-wrote many of the songs on the album, but not all of them. You can distinctly hear Sheila's background vocals on the title track, and some of the other Lovesexy band members are on the record as well as musicians.

The fact that Prince was on Love Song was well publicized at the time; it was part of the hype that the two were finally working together. Prince also does the guitar for the last song on the album, Act of Contrition, but that is not credited and was not publicized.
