Batman outtakes and remixes I'm trying to put together a mixdisc of all Batman-related outtakes and remixes, etc. I have the Batdance demo, Electric Chair live, some remixes, RAVE, and also "The Max," because it uses the guitar line from RAVE in the bridge. I think I have the Scandalous Sex Suite...what are all the outtakes you can think of?

I would hesitate to include "Me Touch Myself" with Batman outtakes just because it appeared on a bootleg CD with Dance with the Devil. Same as any Jill Jones track - remember, Batman was recorded around the same time as GB, so many of the tracks of the time might be batched on bootlegs - doesn't mean they were part of the same recording sessions or were intended for the same album.

ddin't Prince do a re-working of the old 60's TV Batman theme at some point?
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
no. he did make a new batman theme that ended up as a madhouse track, which i do believe is still unreleased as well. "19" maybe? now i know what this is all about. now i know exactly what i am.

As for Batman Outtakes only 4 are circulating. The first one being Dance With the Devil(the audio from the circulating version is actully taken from a video). The Batman theme is also circulating(It is just a reworking of a unreleased Madhouse song"18 r u legal yet" with batman samples over it.). The third is the original version of Rave 2 the Joy Fantastic. It is almost indentical as the one on the Rave album but has some different edits and a longer ending. The fourth is an extended version of Batdance which includes an entirely different section not found on any of the released versions.
There are also a few unreleased remixes that are circulating. There is a house version of Partyman. Two different versions of Electric Chair also exist. One is pretty much an extended version of the album track but the Bass is brought out consideribly. The other version is a weird almost offbeat club remix. Also that version of the Max was done in 91 and took the Rave guitar line.

I have read that 319 was originally recorded for use on the Batman project but was rejected by Burton.

I haven't heard any Batman out-takes, but a couple of tracks sure sound like they're from that period. Good Man comes to mind. Life it ain't real funky unless you got that orgPop.

Was it on Oprah that Prince played and said that the first song he ever learnt to play on the piano was the theme to Batman?
If so, then he must have been pretty happy to have made the soundtrack album. A little boy's dream come true. Life it ain't real funky unless you got that orgPop.

Prince did some stuff in the studio with Kim Basinger around the same time as Batman. I don't remember the songs...anyone?
Maybe "Big Tall Wall". I have the boot somewhere. It's a shitfest. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

You're practically correct on every aspect of your post, quite apart from one particular detail: 'The Batman Theme', which was rejected by the producers of the Batman film, was actually based, not on '18 (R U Legal Yet?)', but on '19 (Jailbait)'. Prince revamped '19 (Jailbait)' in February 1989 and turned it into a track called 'The Batman Theme' for use on the Batman project. The original track, retitled simply 'Jailbait', was sent to Miles Davis on January 1st 1991 along with 'Penetration' and 'A Girl And Her Puppy', both also from the unreleased Madhouse 24 album. Maybe "Big Tall Wall". I have the boot somewhere. It's a shitfest. Kim Basinger's vocals are definitely on version #3 of 'Soul Psychodelicide' - the one featuring her orgasmic moans at the beginning -, which is 8:32 seconds long.(There are four versions of this unreleased track, lasting 11:00, 8:19, 8:32, and 5:51, respectively). Kim Basinger had nothing to do with 'Big Tall Wall'. In turn, Kim's unreleased "lost" album featured no Prince involvement whatsoever. . "You don't frighten us, English pig dogs. Go and boil your bottoms, sons of a silly person."

Talking about Batman-outtakes - what about "We Got The Power"? Because it's mentioned in the "Batdance"-lyrics. Quite a poor song, but a Batman-outtake. Am I wrong? "Don't hate me 'cuz I'm fabulous!"
