[Edited 5/16/07 11:45am] Since they are 17, rosy cheeked, and Mormon they oooze pure sexy innocence. I doubt it. That's how I felt in Salt Lake It's a weird dynamic, feeling attracted to the innocence that you basically know you'll never be able to corrupt, and are nearly willing to go to church to be near it. It's also weird that they're willing to bait us like that. My Legacy

I am a Jehovah's Witness and we are not in the game to convert so to speak, but introduce the True teachings of the Bible to whoever desires to and is "heart ready", they eventualy convert themselves, just like I did, once they start studying and realizing that, the Truth, well, is true!
It is correct that we do not associate ourselves with non witnesses unless we study with them. Bad associations spoil good habits... It isvery hard to stay on course with the Bible principles so we help one another by socializing, dating, marring, etc etc only within Baptized JW's .... For the little trivia thing, I was a strong atheist and disser of ANY religion, until I chit chatted with a few Witnesses, originaly to make fun of them, but the Truth shined through...Shockingly, to myself, I converted in 5 months!!! Now I Knock on them doors, willing to do the Work!

and any religion 'forcing' ppl to abide by a certain code..(like JW's do and some other religions) to me.. only shows the 'control' they want over ppl..
[Edited 5/16/07 10:52am]
U know I kinda see Ur point of view as it was mine before, but the witnesses DO NOT force anyone to do anything... However, to be and remain part of the congregation, U need to behave accordingly. We, witnesses base ALL our teachings on the Bible and we "walk the talk". Everyone recognizes us on that caracteristic, we actualy do what we were commanded by Jehovah God and Jesus Christ. Period. If U want to be one of the Jehovah's Witnesses, well U'll WANT to behave like one, because once U desire to be a witness U KNOW what U need to do and not do... Therefore naturally u comply with glee Like I did Like I do If U don't well... Ur not a JW, but a "wannabe" JW and there is no generic available

(shakes her head) Whenever he's playing in Chicago I sing a few songs with him. But, cut a record together? I don't think so. He's a Jehovah's witness now. That makes things difficult. Because I am not a Jehovah's witness he's not even supposed to hang out with me. They are their own people. Although, I really wonder if his faith still means that much to him. Recently, in Vegas, he seemed very much like the old Prince.
" Well I know "the old Prince" is´t the old P. But a more mature One. I personaly do not like Jehovah´s I must admit. interview excerpt: ... Prince just kept on going, hours on end, all through the night. By the time we left the studio it would already be dawn. When i asked him if he ever slept, he said: 'Mavis, sleeping is a complete waste of time'. Then I replied: 'Well then with your permission I'm goig to waste at least eight hours of my time.' That's pretty funny. It's also nice to know that they are still in contact with one another. That's great that he invited Mavis out to Vegas. perfection is a fallacy of the imagination...

Recently, in Vegas, he seemed very much like the old Prince. Kind of a bizarre comment if you ask me. It's not like every person around Prince or working with him is a JW; nor have I ever heard it said JWs can only hang out with other JWs. Religion can sure put up barriers but sometimes the barriers are simply imagined. This is actually true. JWs are not "supposed" to associate with people that are not Witnesses, but they try to keep that hush hush. I've personally experienced this with friends that I had that were JWs that would kinda fall off the face of the Earth.

They're a religious group? I thought they were just some private school kids that didn't ride the bus to school. Duh, on my part. I thought they were Jehovah's Witnesses.

I haven't seen anyone on this thread say that JWs are not nice people. I've known quite a few and don't have any negative opinions of them personally. In my own personal experience, I was really close to a lady that I met at work and her four kids who eventually started calling me Aunt. The lady suffers from a terminal disease and I would frequently help her out financially because she was such a great person and mother. I got so close to the family that her kids actually requested that I be their guardian when she passed. Which I would have been honored to do. They would witness to me, but were never pushy, casually leaving pamphlets behind when they came to my house. They'd invite me to Kingdom Hall, which I'd been to before, but I declined. After a few years of friendship and constant communication, they stopped calling, returning my calls, moved, and I haven't heard from them in almost a year, I'm sad to say. I say all this to say, that JWs will tolerate and interact with non-Witnesses but if they feel you are not going to join they will cut ties and that's just how it is. The fact that Prince has so many people around him that are not JWs and that they frequently have spiritual discussions shows me that he IS very tolerant of others views and is probably not following JW to the letter. But isn't that what most people do? Cherrypick the tenets or teachings of a religion that work for them and ignore the BS that doesn't. Like Catholics who are on the pill or eat meat on Friday or don't go to confession, etc.

That's the mormon's. I've seen plenty throughout the years and many of them are cute. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

I was excited for Mavis' new album, but she sang a tune from it on one of the talk shows. It was a big let-down. I'll have to peep some other songs from the CD on Amazon and give it another chance. I really like Ry Cooder. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

HUMO: When was the last time you saw Prince? recently at the Superbowl. And before that, in Las Vegas. If i'm not mistaken it was the 19th of January. He owns a club and a restaurant, so he invited Yvonne and I. We stayed a couple of nights. We had a good dinner and saw a brilliant performance in his beautiful club. Yeah man, Prince is painting Las Vegas purple. HUMO: Do you think you're ever gonna collaborate again? (shakes her head) Whenever he's playing in Chicago I sing a few songs with him. Now you know she is going to catch hell for that last statement...LOL Prince is not one to be happy when people in his circle say "non authorized" statements about him.... I would not want him to totally abandon his faith and bust out ala "dirty mind" style. I think his religion has grounded him, and matured him into the wonderful gentleman he is now. It is his stabilzing force, and I am glad to see the conviction and passion he has for it. But I can't help wishing just a little of the old spark could come out more as I have been noticing it is lately. There is nothing wrong with that unless it is distasteful or dirty. And I don't think he ever would make it so. He has too much class to do that, and there is nothing better than a man with class.... If the wind blew all the petals from your precious red rose, would you be afraid of what you'd find inside?...

With that phrase you've made the act of making a different choice to your own sound like a failing or lack of something. . [Edited 5/16/07 21:24pm]

Mavis was the musical guest on Letterman tonight. She brought Cooder and her 4 back up singers (all male) and Paul Schaffer and the band supplied the rest.
She did a smoldering bluesy gospel number about Mississippi, Dr. King and integration. She was melody cool.....
