And when he'd walk around the club during the show it was just the club security guys that would escort him. Not exactly the best trained folks to ensure the safety of a world renowned, iconic entertainer like Prince. It just didn't seem safe, especially in the aftershows. If I were him, I'd have a Secret Service guy as my head of security. I'll protect him

I don't mean for the Secret Service guys to follow him around all the time, besides, I said "head of security." Their job would be to consult on and coordinate security plans for his public appearances and concerts. They are knowledgeable about security techniques when dealing with large crowds. Most arenas and public figures consult with former secret service guys to ensure that they stay safe. It wouldn't hurt Prince to have people go through a metal detector or have professionals doing a real purse search when he does concerts or aftershows. He should be more concerned about his safety rather than if people have recording devices. [Edited 5/16/07 18:09pm]

Humpalina, Humpalina, men have named you You're so like a stage 'ho' with your mystic smile Is it only 'cause you're lonely, they have blamed you For your "straddle, mount 'em, hump' em" concert style? Do you hump to tempt the rock star, Humpalina? Or is this your way to hide a broken heart? Many dreams get dragged backstage by the bouncer They just lie there and they die there Are you warm, are you real, Humpalina? Or just a hot and lusty, horny work of art? (musical interlude) Do you hump to tempt the rock star, Humpalina? Or is this your way to hide a broken heart? Many dreams get dragged backstage by the bouncer They just lie there and they die there Are you warm, are you real, Humpalina? Or just a hot and lusty, horny work of art? Humpalina, Humpalina. Okay, BabyDaddy, you's a skrait fool as we say in Dallas. That was good tho. . . [Edited 5/14/07 15:18pm] Bravo!!! Hilarious!!! I'm firmly planted in denial

sorry but gotta throw my in here...
Of course, I want (and need) Prince to be safe, but I think some of you are going a little over the top here. He has bodyguards, they are just not as obvious and in your face as they used to be. I'm sure he trusts them. I think it's wonderful how accessible he's become with time. Vegas was the first time I've ever gotten close to him and I've been a fan since 1983. It was an amazing experience, esp. the aftershow. Truly a once in a lifetime thing, that I will never forget. As far as girls trying to hump him onstage, I posted my thoughts about that in the original thread but the nutshell of MO is I can't believe anyone could do that to him...I myself was like a deer in headlights when he got in my "space". But come on people, this is rock & roll! Shit happens and it's all part of the job. He'd probably rather have a girl trying to jump him then people throwing shit at him. I remember reading a thread here early in the Vegas thing, where everybody gave some girl a hard time for admitting she touched him while he walked through the audience. Give me a break! He knows that will happen if he goes out there, he's not stupid. Why else would he do it if not to give the fans that chance to feel close to him? It wasn't like he was singing/dancing his way through the VIP section. Letting the fans touch you is part of the deal, look back at Purple Rain, you see how people are holding his hand while he lays on the floor at the end of TBO's. Absolutely, I think any fan of Prince should be respectful of him and his personal space. Esp. since we know how shy he's been in the past. And I hope his bodyguards are on the ball. But come on, you don't really want him going to the stage and then the car in an equipment box again do you?? Ask where they're going, they'll tell U – "Nowhere"

Frow what I've been told, Prince did not have/use bodyguards in the club or Jazz Cuisine other than Trevor and the security guys that worked at the club who were Rio employees. And I heard people employed at the Rio express concern over a few incidents that occurred with people that were giving off "a strange and menacing vibe" during some aftershows. So I'm basing my opinion on things I heard from different people that worked at the Rio. I also had awesome experiences at 3121 and I haven't suggested anything that restricts Prince's accessibility. I'm merely saying that it wouldn't hurt to be more scrutinizing as people enter a venue that IS so intimate where you risk Prince stepping on your toe like he did me. An ounce of prevention beats a pound of cure. [Edited 5/16/07 19:49pm] [Edited 5/16/07 19:53pm]

An ounce of prevention beats a pound of cure. well, if that is all he used, I would guess that the Rio guys have some experience dealing with major celeb's. It is a Vegas casino, they've got the bucks and plenty of stars come through there. Also, if that's the case, if Trevor is doing his job then I would think he had some say on if those guys were up to the job. (Of course, I don't know much about Trevor (is that him in the pic pulling off the girl?)- but since he's been around awhile I would think P trusts him). Again, all that being said, I'm with you on the main point- and of course I do hope he stays safe. Being a bit more heavy on the scrutinizing/searching is one thing, but some (not you) suggested he stop letting people anywhere near him at all. Ask where they're going, they'll tell U – "Nowhere"
