Long service medals should also go 2 Sonny T and Michael B .. they are both on 3121 album..and go way back to at least '89 ..wonder why they didn't do the recent tours..? Gx [Edited 5/15/07 2:26am] Sonny has been around since Prince´s childhood and taught him a lot on the guitar and on the bass....Prince repeatedly called him one of his all time heroes and best guitarists in several interviews in the early to mid 90s, and even Sonny himself was quite surprised to hear that. He was supposed to replace Andre Cymone after the Dirty Mind tour and had to lose weight in order to becaome a new band member but Prince chose Brownmark over him without even letting him know....despite the fact that he had gone on a strict diet etc.... You can read it up in Dave Hill´s excellent bio " Pop Life" " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

I thought were were talking about a continuous run as a band member. Sheila E. would not fit into that category. She was only officialy a member of the SOTT and LoveSexy bands. The other people mentioned were official band members longer than Sheila. In terms of people who have been around and worked/performed with P over the longest period of time, then Sheila E. would be an obvious choice along with Eric Leeds. perfection is a fallacy of the imagination...

Levi Miko Fink Rhonda Eric Leeds Maceo Morris Hayes I read Fink called out for a gig during the diamonds and pearls tour and sent a fill-in, and when he came 2 the next gig, Prince had hired the fill-in 2 take Fink's spot Fink was already gone by the time Diamonds and Pearls rolled around If you will, so will I

Sheila E. -- 1984 thru 1988 or early '89, then 2001 to 2007 -- 11 years total
she's opened for him, done guest spots, played on albums, performed at various shows however she was only an official band member 1987-1988 (maybe early '89?-japanese tour) correct me if i'm wrong tho she might take the prize for longest lasting friend who still plays with him from what? 1979-1989 and then 2001-present?

Counting the years 1992, 2001, and 2007 - that would be 12 years total very impressive -- tho, like Sheila, i'm not sure we can call him an official band member anymore how about we say it's a draw and call the whole thing off [Edited 5/16/07 3:12am]

I am definitely going to say Morris Hayes who if you ever get a chance to meet is one of the nicest and funniest people on the planet. And he has always been that way even before he was in the NPG. Very talented and just genuine person with no massive ego that anyone else who is in his position would have and just always comes off as very together person. I have known him for years and he hasn't changed at all and proud to call him a friend. Isn't he the voice that is heard on the 3121 webpage inviting in the "congregation" on the live version of Satisfied. Makes me laugh outloud when I hear that part.
