In terms of people who have been around and worked/performed with P over the longest period of time, then Sheila E. would be an obvious choice along with Eric Leeds.

Sheila E. -- 1984 thru 1988 or early '89, then 2001 to 2007 -- 11 years total
she's opened for him, done guest spots, played on albums, performed at various shows
however she was only an official band member 1987-1988 (maybe early '89?-japanese tour)

I am definitely going to say Morris Hayes who if you ever get a chance to meet is one of the nicest and funniest people on the planet. And he has always been that way even before he was in the NPG. Very talented and just genuine person with no massive ego that anyone else who is in his position would have and just always comes off as very together person. I have known him for years and he hasn't changed at all and proud to call him a friend. Isn't he the voice that is heard on the 3121 webpage inviting in the "congregation" on the live version of Satisfied. Makes me laugh outloud when I hear that part.
