Old Music in New Music Is it just me, or does Prince sometimes incorperate elements from his old hits into his newer music. Don't get me wrong I'm not dissing. I think it's kinda cool, but "Beautiful, Loved and Blessed" does that thing at the end that sounds like "If I Was Your Girlfriend" with the guitar, "Fury" kinda has a "1999" riff, "The Work Pt. 1" is reminiscent of "Willing and Able", and for some reason "Musicology" reminds me of "Sexy M.F.", its got that James Brown quality. Does anyone else agree?

P's definately recycling in much more obvious ways lately. Sometimes it works. Sometimes it makes me cringe.
Prince is better than that. ...Right? If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

yeah, I'm okay with it though, as long as he's recycling good music!
It's sort of like how comedians "recycle" certain really good bits. When it's good, it's good. Ask where they're going, they'll tell U – "Nowhere"
They've taken a lifetime lease on Paisley Park ...

U have to remember there are only 7 notes and then they have to go from there. So I would say that every now and then u are going to here songs that sound like some of his other stuff. But when u here someone else other then Prince playing his stuff then they just dont have what it takes to make their own sound, case in point Puff Daddy, have u heard the remixe to last night? sounds like eroxtic city to me, and did Puffy, daddy, diddy, combes get his ok to use that? I have in one hand a bucket of water and a torch in the other, with these I will set heaven on fire and put out the flames in hell so that no one will worship god in fear of not going to heaven or ending up in hell.

He's said before that it's difficult to keep his music fresh after writing so many songs for all these years. Makes sense to me! [Edited 5/13/07 5:29am]

many musicians have a tendency to redo stuff, Bruce and Michael have done a lot of it. I used to think of "The Way You Make Me Feel" as Bad's version of billy jean, Bruce probably does it more than both.
