This album when i first listened 2 was i thought unique, transending and complicated in its musical notes (if u see sheet).

Making number 1 here in the UK and top 10 in US was by no means one of his most successful albums, but i heard Prince saying, it may have been better accepted if it was realeased 10 years later.

i do agree i feel it is very shopisticated and probably Princes most different composed soundin album.

I mean u never get tracks like:

Love 2 The 9s
7
The Max
3 Chains o Gold
Blue Light

Etc

Sam 8)
Prince 2010 Good Luck for Future & Tour

fonkee

I dig o)+> !!!

All people around me who love prince and are about my age (27) still love this album the most. Just because we were young then and got to know Prince thruough O)+> and diamonds and pearls too... Maybe it's all about sentiment

But it still is a damn great album, as a whole too. The musical diversity is enormous and the skits are somehow pointless but the're good for the 'flow' of the album... I guess this album is all about mayte, isn't it? The real start of his emancipation also...

Tony M's raps still sound good 2 me, if u like funk and hiphop u should like it...
About the songs: put the best of D&P and o)+> together and u get this:

-Cream
-Damn U
-Strollin
-Diamnds and Pearls
-Sexy MF
-Get Off
-7
-Love 2 the 9's
-And God Created Woman
-Money Don't Matter
-My Name Is Prince
-Morning Papers
-Willing And Able
-...

DAMN!!

Many other artists greatest hits aren't even on this level, and this is just 2 of Prince's albums... That's why I don't understand the criticism on this LP filled whith great songs... whas it ahead of it's time? Too sophisticated? We as fans are so spoiled sometimes smile
Still listen to this album the most, 1ce every month, sometimes couple times a week. Glad 2 see most people here like this album too!

True about the "sentiment". I was in my mid 20's by the time this came out. So the segues with kirsty allie were just ridiculous. Tony M/ game boyz had no 'street cred'. He could rap but he was more Princes buddy than having any new style/delivery.

This is a good album, but not underrated.

LOVE THIS ALBUM! This is my favorite Prince album of the 90s.The songs are bold and invigorating."And God Created Woman" is heavenly...truly one of the greatest songs Prince ever composed.Love 2 The 9s" is a wild rollercoaster ride."7" boasts the strongest chorus of any Prince single released in the 90s."The Continental" really should have been a single....that song SIZZLES! Especially the second, slower part."Sexy MF" is alot of fun, too. Some fans complain about Tony M,but I like his rap on this song,as well as the "shakin' that ass" chant.Very clever and catchy. The dreamy "Damn U" ranks up there with Prince's finest slow jams.On the previous album,Prince came up with a dreadful, embarrassing rap number "Jughead" but on this album he delivers "The Flow" which is cool and confident. It makes you forget all about the awful "Jughead".

Not every song is perfect ("The Morning Papers" bores me,and I don't really care for the chaotic "Sacrifice Of Victor"),but the strong tracks make it all worthwhile. The highlights are plentiful.

I find it hard 2 listen through all the contrived
theatrical bullshit..but I like it best as a piece of kitsch.

good things but as albums i just don't like them at all.

although, "and god created woman" is one of my fav prince songs

it's so beautiful mushy

'And God Created Woman' is probably in my top 3 songs of all time. The beginning of it just has a vibe about it that I love. In fact I really like this whole album.
