"America" Extended Version is a masterpiece.

21 minutes 33 seconds of greatness.

This is definitely my top 20 Prince cut.

Anyone agree?

Without me getting flamed. I can't stand the long version. It goes on way too long and goes absolutely nowhere. One of my least favorite extended mixes.

That's just me lol

Yes, it does have its moments but theres also alot of uninteresting stuff in there, it's really just an average jam.

Haven't actually heard that yet but the 10 minute + version is top notch!!

I really like this jamm but agree it is a bit too long. 10 mins ext. version would have been great.

Sorry, but i disagree, the live version (a video from a performance in France) is extatic and mind-blowing.

The version on vinyl is boring and just drags on and on...

I totally agree. I was surprised that it was as flat and boring as it was.

Co-sign. The dang thing should be about 10 mins tops, leaving in the guitar solos and such and taking out the 11 minutes of repetitous nothingness.

It does exist on cd. It is on a compilation called "Minneapolis Funk" by WB. It was released a few years ago. I purchased it from the French Amazon site. It has some good tracks and rare 12" versions from Prince assosicated projects:
1. Round And Round (soul Mix Edit) Tevin Campbell
2. Pandemonium The Time
3. Fishnet (big Leg Mix) Morris Day
4. A Love Bizarre Sheila E. and Prince
5. Good Feeling Brownmark
6. The Ballad Of Dorothy Parker Prince
7. Love That's Mine Karyn White
8. Not Thru Being With You Michael Jeffries and Karyn White
9. America Prince & The Revolution

Yes. A classic piece from Prince. I can understand why folks would not like it, but back when 12" singles were hot, America was on FIRE. I played the hell outta that platter.

I forgot that it made it onto that Minneapolis Sound compilation. From what I've heard, the quality on that CD is less than stellar. Someone said that you can hear the pops and crackles as if it was recorded from vinyl.
If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.
