But imo, a longer musical lay-off (say even 3-5 years) might just help reinvigorate his music in major new ways. I think he's getting bored with the whole album/ tour lifestyle, which explains his recent sayings.

the band really showed their stuff at the aftershows in Vegas and they did some amazing jazz so i bet he was just inspired by them to make another jazz record....i can't wait

i mean even if he could find a radio station that would be willing to air something with political, racial and religious lyrics that are as confusing as the first TRC, mainstream folks (i.e. non-diehard prince fans) would never enjoy that kind of challenge, lyrically.
