Is it the same outfit she wore at the restaurant when her daddy walked in? The girls and boys scene..
Anyway I like that outfit and the headdress... ^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^

One thing that baffles me though. At the beginning when he is parking that Thunderbird , when the kids come up to him for money...he barely has an inch on both sides of the columns to get his car thru to park and he makes it! It seems like the car would have had to be on some Disneyland like track guide to keep from hitting the sides etc..If not, good driving g money! Also a funny endearing part is when he picks out the flowers for that lady in the same scene almost..he picks em out by pointing and going "uh , uh, uh" instead of going that one, that one, and that one. LOL. "Climb in my fur."

That was SWEET, wasn't it?? Wardrobe on this film kicked ass. I wish the hair department was as tight - some of those do's were unforgivable...

LOLOL!!! I too notice that EVERY time I see it! I guess that's why he makes the turn from the left lane also b/c that car is looong. GREAT driving - I would have hit that mutha. :O He must have nailed that in 1 take... Yea, not to mention he just goes down the line to pick them out - it's as if the flowers are numbered... "2,3,4... 8,9,10."

Another thing: @ the very beginning of the song, he sings "Girls & Boys" into the mic & keeps singing live for a few more lines (I believe). He seemed pretty hoarse to me on that first line - I know he likes the sound of his own voice, but damn! He lets the song take over eventually anyway - why not just start off w/ pure song instead of that taste of Christopher Tracy @ his raspiest? Always thought that was a strange choice...

That movie was great. I love the black and white effect. However me and my husband still to this day don't understand the part of when that woman comes out of nowhere you know the part when Christopher has Flashbacks and that old black woman goes Christopher When will I see you Again? Who was that supposed to be? Dreaming permits each and every one of us to be quietly and safely insane every night of our lives.

She's one of his many tricks. She horrifies him not only b/c her beauty is questionable & her laugh is ghastly, but he's now in love w/ Mary. So the thought of turning tricks don't do it for Chrissy no mo...

In the 80's this movie was called one of the Worst movies of all time right behind Howard the Duck,& Tougher than Leather.
This movie could have been successful if it was shot in color.

But RUN DMC partly ruined Princes kingdom on the masses. Just when a brotha was about to break down and put on eyeliner , RUN DMC broke out and b-boy fashion became the latest passion. See Black narcissus from 1985-86 Spin. And please do not take me literally on the eyeliner comment. Its a metaphor for what was going down in the music buying public ( for those who need it spoonfed) [This message was edited Thu Sep 19 20:04:17 PDT 2002 by rdhull] "Climb in my fur."

i've never heard many people on the org complimenting this movie, but its my favorite p movie. cant beat the scenery in more ways than one...u know...that means the south of france (yumm), the luscious clothing on ALL! of course the actors/actresses, ESPECIALLY PRINCE...more music would have been nice, but prince's and jerome's acting was very good imo. liked all the love scenes too. being in black & white was perfect. and a gigalo that falls in love for the plot. NICE! === May the BELLS ring 4 U even when ur not in love.

What did you think when you first read that article on Prince? Did you see truth in it then? Do you see truth in it now? What was that guy's name? Bart? I think I wrote him some hate mail that year. But as time went on, I started to see some truth in his words and why he said what he said.

Great thread!...!!
One of my favorite shots has always been of Christopher's and Mary's hands locked together when they're making love at the grotto, and while he's giving her an orgasm...just their hands...very expressive.

But as time went on, I started to see some truth in his words and why he said what he said. It was the second piece of almost damning criticism of my musical hero..I thought the writer did great in analyzing his past but was baffled how he thought others thought rap was better than Prince. I didnt get it then but as years went on, like you, I saw the truth in the article etc. Prince was everything..funk, rock, soul...but that little niche of rap was what was brewing, ready to take over everything. Yes, it was... AND?? Nobody's saying it's a great movie - just b/c it's bad doesn't mean we can't love things about it. This movie could have been successful if it was shot in color.
That's a ridiculous statement. The presence of color doesn't make for a good movie - many of the scenes still wouldn't hold up. I know B&W might have turned some simple people off (still can't figure that out ) but if your story is weak, all the sparkly gold, backless suits in the world can't save you... nasty edit! I read somewhere that the "Life is a Parade" note was intended 2 be a little message 4 Chris Moon. If u notice at the bottom of the paper there's a big C and a cresent moon. And about that big Buick Wildcat, when I was reading the part "when the kids come up 2 him 4 money... he barely has an inch, I thought it was gonna read he barely has an inch over them. Damn he's short.

Let me comment again. I don't think the movie would have done better in color. It was fine in black and white. The problem was only Prince fans liked it or understood it to be the funny ,cool movie it is. But of course the reviewers panned it and that slaughtered it,because the rest of the general movie population couldn't give a damn to see it. I saw it here in Brooklyn and everybody was just laughing. For some reason movies just stayed about 2 or 3 weeks and then gone. Check this out. I was in Florida and saw it 2x actually dragged my Michael Jackson loving cousin to see it then I flew back to N.Y. to make sure I saw it here to see the reaction over in Brooklyn. Nobody takes Prince Serious nobody they think he is just a joke or strange and I don't know they just don't get him. I can beat it into them about the music on and on and on and they say you know what he's really good . But nobody even is Aware he is still putting out albums anymore. It's a strange thing.
