Did you not read... the previous posting made a comment about preaching and I responded and, also, noted it didn't have much to do with this topic. That's NOT how the original poster explained it happened. You should have read that. Aren't we as evolved human beings supposed to be tolerant of other people's beliefs, without judgment? Doesn't Prince and all of us deserve that?
Talk to Prince. Hmmmm. well, I did read the original post and they did not say anything about Prince preaching all day long or rambling, that was in your post. The original post mentioned that he gave a look that said "obviously," but you said that he had an attitude and gave a condescending look, which imo is a bit of a leap. As for your last two comments, I have no idea what you mean. Regardless, I responded to the points you laid out in your post not what the original poster said.

anon said: It's true. If someone called me a Pagan for celebrating something, instead of explaining, I'd be turned off to everything else they said. However, since there's a history between the fans and Prince...and his beliefs, it may have been said playfully and not condemnatory.
Yes, it's quite possible he could have been saying it jokingly. His past actions just make it hard to tell. It's like with the cussing thing. During some concerts he would have the audience say the 'dirty words' and then jokingly call them naughty or some such and at least in that respect his personal beliefs were handled in a way that didn't offend others... but then there are other stories, like from George Clinton where he tends to press his beliefs in a more offensive direction. It's always hard to tell with the little guy. If he's taking time off to put spirituality in perspective, this really is a good thing. With JW's, it seems, everything else comes second to spirituality.
Perhaps more people should have this view. Yes, if it helps a person grow in a positive direction then it's a great thing.

Don't expect them to accept beliefs of the Druids, Scientologists, Baathism, etc. In the same way someone of another sect/relegion will not accept the beliefs/worldview of another. Yet somehow this is "judgemental".
Whether it's an intrinsic belief or not, that still judgmental. ...and don't stereotype a single group. I know PLENTY of Christians that are not judgmental of other religions. Some people are wise enough to know that just because they found the right path for themselves, and another's path may be wrong for them, that doesn't mean they should use their own religion to downgrade others or use it to feel superior.

How do you indicate a look of "obviously" that doesn't make a statement or attitude toward the original question?

Perhaps more people should have this view. Yes, if it helps a person grow in a positive direction then it's a great thing. But who is to determine or "judge" if this growth is positive or not? Me, you, or him? I frankly don't care what he does with his spirituality and he can say whatever he wants to in his shows because it's his right even though I'm paying him. He's an artist and his stance doesn't bother me. I want to hear good music and see a legend doing his thing like no one else can. If it got to a point where his comments offended me I would not endorse him, or his point of view, and keep my money in my pocket and my ass at home.

Again, I read just fine and none of the previous posts said anything close to what you outlined in yours which was what I was responding to. But, whatever, I'm through going back and forth with you cuz it REALLY isn't that serious. Besides, I have more important things to do like renewing my passport, getting ready to see some more awesome Prince performances, and buying a bunch of birthday presents for my pagan friends.

Apparently, you don't read very well because I was responding to jacobpb's comment about preaching in genreal and didn't reference Prince at all in that point - even saying it had nothing to do with this specific topic. YOU are the one that attached it to Prince.

Yeah, after viewing that link, I didn't really see any of what was originally talked about. If Prince would have gotten bent out of shape over what sound like a snicker and a half at most then that would be really really sad.

a) Just because a Christian is taught to preach doesn't mean everyone else is just supposed to sit back and listen all day long or accept that someone is going to ramble on about it (this doesn't have much to do with this particular topic but you brought it up) b) Prince's entire attitude and the way he talks about God has changed since the 80's. Someone would have to either be in denial or not very observant to think different. That can be good or bad depending on what you believe yourself but it still true nonetheless. c) If all Prince says is take time out "to study", they ask him what and then Prince answers them with an attitude and condescending look like the journalist is stupid, then he should be prepared to accept what he gets back. d) At his age, Prince, also, should be prepared to accept differing views and realize that not everyone will go along with everything unquestioned without getting all bent out of shape and running off. jacobpb said: Christians believe that only people that follow Christ will go to Heaven. Gee, I sure wish he had... the last time he did that, we ended up with Parade. However, getting out more and traveling would certainly be good for Prince...assuming he doesn't travel wit a bunch of 'yes men', it can only do him some good to see the REAL world.

Anyone? You know what the difference is...you liked the music back then...the message is the same...dude has not changed...its always been about finding salvation and loving God and one another you want to get goofy because dude mentions the bible? That's what hes doing right now...get over it. The only people that seem to bothered by it are people that don't have a religion. Because why else would you care. Its his fling faith...that's what people of faith do. Have you ever read the Bible? Try it...because it clearly talks about the Christians responsibility to spread the good word "I know there is a heaven I know there is a hell...listen to me people I got a story to tell...I know there was conviction and lightning all around me...that's when I called his name and don't you know he found me!" Now who in the heck do you think Prince was talking about when he says that's when I called his name...Ru Paul?!!! "Save Me Jesus I've been a fool how could I forget that u r the rule...you are my God I am your child for now on for you I shall be wild...I shall be strong I shall be quick ...I'll tell your story no matter how long" What you think he really meant to say Jose and not save Jesus!!! "Don't kiss the beast...love and honestly peace and harmony...positivity! What you think the Beast he is talking here is some reference to the X men character? The Beast Dude!! The Beast from the Bible...the sign of the Beast 666! The devil! Prince has always been religious...and I think its pathetic that people can only accept the carnal Prince and not make room for the one that believes in something other than pussy or wearing his damn ass out. I will say this again the only reason people didn't mind the messages in the 80s is because the music was better. Very few people that really are familiar with this dudes body of work would make the argument that his music say over the last 15 years is as good as the 1st 15.... and that's ok But when people make fun of dude and his religious beliefs that's burns me Dance... So Prince is being greedy by playing 21 nights in London for fans that have been begging him to come there for years and he's doing it all for 31 pounds = $61 AND including his new CD. Musicology was $75/show and Vegas was $125-312. Sounds like a damn bargain to me. How is that greedy? Greedy is Barbara Streisand charging 600 pounds = $1200 for tickets to her shows at the same venue in the UK. Goes to show that no matter what Prince does his supposed fans will find SOMETHING to criticize.

Nope, it really has changed... in 1988 his message was one of love and inclusion and celebrating the differences and variety of life. Since 1998, it's been a much narrower thing where you are invited... to think like him. At various times, anyone who doesn't has been told they must change, etc... or labeled pagans and 'banished ones.' There's a very narrow exclusionary aspect to it. Now, Prince may have held those same exclusionary beliefs back in the 80's and just kept quiet to sell a record but Anx is correct. Prince has changed the way he talks about it. I will say this again the only reason people didn't mind the messages in the 80s is because the music was better. Very few people that really are familiar with this dudes body of work would make the argument that his music say over the last 15 years is as good as the 1st 15.... and that's ok

Prince has paid his dues 2 music society, many times over. He can do and say pretty much whatever he wants. He's the only one still out there from the ol'skool that can command the respect he well deserves. I'm not mad at him 4 making a few strange recordings and freaky business moves. P will always b the true last music man!!!! Go relax and read man....I'll still have my catalog of music, videos, pics & movies.

Is that the only two options in the world? The Bible and calculus? Damn! I think it's safe to say that to the general public the idea of Prince, a guy that just waved his devil penis about behind a big wet sheet at the Superbowl, studying the Bible is probably momentarily funny. Not to mention they may have been expecting a more scholarly study. If you were to ask someone like Loreena McKennitt or Joni Mitchell you might get an earful about studying various indigenous musical forms in foreign countries, etc...
