Prince makes it hard to be a fan With so much good music coming out these days from a disparate amount of new artists, Prince has begun to herald a new line of....Perfume. Christ, keeping music real eh, Prince

You're kidding me, right? Of all the music that's out today, only 5% of it can be even called "music". The other 95% is garbage. That "garbage" is part of the reason why I find Musicology so appealing. had 2 run away... pride was 2 strong. It started raining, baby, the birds were gone

You're not aware of all the great bands on both sides of the Atlantic or the great solo singers in America (from all genres) and you also find Musicology 'appealing.' You need to get out more. i don't understand. what does selling perfume as a side business venture have to do with keeping music real? if you think its a bad idea that's cool but I'm not making the connection to the real music comment. [Edited 5/7/07 20:14pm]

[Edited 5/7/07 20:14pm] Thank you. It's not hard to be into Prince. When you look at it..he still is more productive and creative than artist who are on radio. Prince has more talent in his little finger than any rapper has in his/her whole body... [Edited 5/7/07 20:24pm] "A united state of mind will never be divided

I just think that, as a musician - and one, as you say with the glorious cliche, - 'more talent in his little finger' - than most, he basically makes me look bad because when I have discussions with musicologists about the merits of Prince versus, say, The Kasier Chiefs, Rufus Wainwright, The Artic Monkeys and/or The Twangs and a 100 others, I'm the one who has to explain away the fact that Prince, has a new fucking perfume coming out instead of a blinding CD - and I'm sick of sounding like a 'poncy hairdresser,' ok! There, satisfied!

Umm, I don't know. 2 me most of the good music today sounds like...PRINCE. LoL
Maybe old school Prince but Prince nonetheless. And I ain't hating on a brotha for putting out some scents. Do whatcha like! Has nothing to do with his music, at least not to me. [Edited 5/7/07 21:11pm] In this bed eye scream

[Edited 5/7/07 20:14pm] Thank you. I was going to say the same thing. It amazes me how some people can't wait to criticize everything that P does. First of all there's been no confirmation that he is actually selling the perfume. However, if he does so what? How does that effect his musicianship? I fail to see the correlation. Folks called him crazy when he sold Get Wild, then ten years later every other Pop artist was putting out a cologne. Merchandising - clothes, perfume, beverages, whatever - has become a big part of the profit model for many artists today. They have to make their money some way, since folks aren't paying for music anymore. BTW Musicology and 3121 are far better than the majority of indie and mainstream music out there today(foreign and domestic). And TRC blows them all away. There are some talented folks out there languishing in obscurity, but at the end of the day they are a drop in the bucket compared to the minions of non-talents out there - both mainstream and indie. Being indie does not automatically equate with being good. perfection is a fallacy of the imagination...
