is it really miles davis on "can i play with u2?, I'm not sure. and did someone know something about other prince/miles davis outtakes? (i remember prince talked about a 30 minute song in on interview)

sticky wicked is a great, but not well known song from chaka khan, written & produced by prince, with miles davis on trumpet (and also voc at the end). is there someone else who like this song?

Yes, that is Miles on "Can I Play With U". It was originally intended to be on the Tutu album but Prince pulled it because he didn't think it fit with the rest of the material (and I can agree with that. It's a bit too "rocky" for Tutu). The story goes that Prince sent Miles the basic demo of it and then Miles and his crew did their thing over it.

"Sticky Wicked" is a neat little track, but again, Prince and Miles weren't in the studio together for it. Similar story to the above. Prince sent the demo to Chaka who then did her thing to it, hiring Miles in the process.

The only other real "collaboration" was the 1987 New Years Eve gig at Paisley Park where Miles played a short solo on the "It's Gonna A Beautiful Night" jam. Bootlegs of this are widely circulating.

Miles also incorporated some of Prince's (then) unreleased material into his live set, including "Movie Star", "Penetration" and "A Girl And Her Puppy". And there is talk that he recorded his own studio versions of these, though they were never released. Some of the live versions have been released on The Complete Miles In Montreux 20CD box set, and The Last Concert In Avignon 1988 album.

Go and check out http://www.thelastmiles.com. There are some great interviews with Alan and Eric Leeds who discuss in detail the Prince-Miles thing.

Not to my knowledge. The album is almost entirely a Miles and Marcus Miller collaboration.

I just read the autobiography of Miles. I encourage you all to do same! ...Fascinating reading. Brutally honest. He talks about drugs, sex, and music in great detail.

I am 39 - and I learned so much from the book about jazz and the major players of its heyday.
