Does anybody happen to have the knowledge as to what gear Prince used on specific songs or albums? I know the gear that he uses in general and have gained somewhat of a knowledge based on live performances, but there's still so much more that remains unanswered to me. While I by no means attempt to necessarily copy Prince's sound, there are quite a few that would be great to work with and further develop.

Now this would be an interesting thread. I would love to find out some info from an insider on this stuff.

I've read that Prince likes to plug right into the board and apply effects via the console. He'll even lay down vox right at the desk. This is all at Paisley Park. I don't know if he even records there anymore.

It may in fact be confidential. Many producers keep their studio gear a strict secret and will go so far as to remove all lables from the case, or even order things with custom cases so that nobody can tell what they're using.
